Default Why is my mpg so bad?

First off i know a lt1 t/a isnt what you want if you worry about mpg but it is my dd and dont want to fill up 2x a week for $100+. My car is a 93 lt1 auto t/a 3.23's. Now before my full exhaust (Lt's, ORY, CB.) i was at about 220-230 a tank. Now im at about 180-190 and going done with each tank I had all new spark plugs wires in with it to. BTW i have a light foot and rarely gun it around town. Almost all city. I tried seafoam, didn't seem to do much but i only did it in the gas tank though. My car idles fine around 600 rpms and car drives fine to. What could my problem be?? and what should i do.

if that's almost all city that is around 12.5 mpg. That's not really too bad for city mileage with headers + cutout + other mods.

I would say get a cheap honda for better mpg if it gets too expensive. I doubt there is really anything wrong with your car.

Well somethin's up with his, cause I have mine with 3.73's, and I am coming close to 200 miles a tank, and that is getting on a little more than often. I am putting LT's on it soon. Could be that you have bad O2 Sensors, making it run rich.

I've got about the same set up as you, but I haven't installed my headers yet. 94z.. my 2nd gear and 4th are out though, and I still get about 180, or 15mpg. According to my gauge I'm running slightly rich.

hmmmm that is pretty odd but I agree that if that is all city driving, that isnt too bad considering stop and go driving. I have 3.73s and a 3200 stall and a lot of other bolt-on mods and I'm always getting over 200 to the tank but mine isn't all city driving.

But one thing is for sure, I ******* hate our gas gauges cause it'll say full - 3/4 tank and then once you get around 150 miles it drops so dam quickly lol. Thats why I always go on the milage.
