Default Mallory 685 LT1 settings

I am in the process of installing a Mallory 685 box into my car due to a nitrous install. One of the options is a start retard function. It retards the timing "x" degrees when the car is under 500 RPM's. I am curious how anybody with this box has it set. How many degrees should I set this option at? My car is a 95 Camaro Z28 LT1 M6.

Thank you for the reply. .01 is the setting it came with out of the box, so I guess I will just leave it alone.

The 685 is a great box for the price. I think I had mine set at 5 degrees or so for the start retard. Didnt really seem to make starting easier either way. This thing is a great investment for N20 or for boosted cars

Gentner,

How easy was the install, where did you mount it and did you use the MSD wiring harness?

It was actually very easy to install. I bought the MSD harness to make it that much easier. My install is (I think) pretty slick. I installed it where my winshield washer tank used to be in front of the radiator. It will get plenty of air flow to stay nice and cool.

we've had a few bad boxes on the impalassforum. Im not sure what the causes were, but some have mentioned to shiled (maybe with wireloom or smething) all the wires that go to the ignition module and coil.

Im debating over the 685 or the MSD digital 6 and a window switch if I juice..
