The hot cam setup is a good setup, but it has been discontinued. We have put together a replacement geared towards the same performance and street manners, with a setup that matches and or exceeds the quality and performance of the original kit.

Our new kit to replace the hotcam kit is slightly more cam. It is (with the 1.6 RRs) .528/.544 218/230.

If you where looking at a Hotcam I would have to say the CC306 is to much cam for you, I priced out a CC306 set-up new and it ran around $850 for parts, if your an automatic A stall is recommend, and gears for a manual, plus tuning for sure. So your around $1,200-1,500 into it. I've done two CC306 cars one stock heads, one ported, and I thought they both ran awesome for what they were.

When it comes to cam swaps, everyone always recommends the most extreme cam. "Yeah it makes great power." Yeah so does a supercharger but it's not always for everyone. Like Apollyn said, if you are looking at the hotcam, the CC306 is definitely too much..
Just look up some videos of cams you are looking at. We all know that a bad ass lopey drag cam sounds bad ass, but realistically you may not want to listen and drive with that everyday if its a daily driver, for example.
its an m6. it is a dd but i dont care about emissions or sound, or gas mileage for that matter. maybe the cc306 isnt the number i was thinking. idk for sure, i know a guy that has an lt1 car full bolt on and he told me the cam was a .510 .540 lift. is that the cc306? and btw the only reason i was looking at the hot cam was because it was a package i havent ever really thought about it, and it just seemed easy but i dont want a baby cam thats not going to help me out but i dont want a full race cam that is hard to keep an idol lol! neways, thanks everyone for the help and keep it comin.
there are definitely better combos out there but you'd be hard pressed to put one together for the price of the hotcam kit
so lets just tell it how it is shall we? there are better combos out there but with the hotcam kit you get the cam, rockers, springs, retainers, locks granted the springs are marginal at best but you still cant beat the price, i think thats the reason the hotcam kit has a lot of appeal
I have less than 500 in my cc306 setup. I didn't go for the over hyped and over priced pro mag rockers, didn't get the titanium retainers, and I bought the cam and rockers used. Theres no reason to buy a new cam. Rockers I can see but if you get them from someone you trust then theres no reason to buy new. I bought new springs and retainers though.

The specs you listed are off the CC306 on a 1.5 RR. So that is probably what he was talking about. If you dont want to piece together a kit, I'm sure a local speed shop will have know problem "putting one" together for you.
honestly we dont have any speed shops around here that i would trust their judgement. i am just wanting a good performance cam that isnt overkill for stock heads. i will go with 1.6rr's and springs but i dont want to mess with my heads right now b/c its a dd. thanks guys.
I would say the CC503 is probably right up your alley, but nothing will benefit like a custom grind cam would. Like in the stock headed cam guide the "CC503 is the "biggest" cam you can run on stock heads" Other people might think differently but it's had great results. I think a CC503 would be your best bet.
thanks alot guys. i never realized about the cam guide. now i feel like an idiot lol but oh well. i think im gonna go with the cc503 it seems pretty good and for my setup i think it should suit me well.
in my view, the 93-97 is the 4.0 gen and the 98-02 is the 4.5 gen when an LTx camaro had sex with a sebring, and an LTx trans am had sex with the batmobile.
yeah after reading even more the cc503 seems right up my alley. i will spin to around 6400 and surely that will be enough with the proper valve train setup. btw, if i were to get my heads ported what kind of difference would it make and would it be even more suitable for the cam?
