Take a good look at your gears too. I had to replace 1st thru 4th, the cluster and my input shaft. Everything was f@cked one way or another,

yeah it kicks out of first the synchro and that gear is messed up pretty bad also. its sad that ive only had the car for 4 months. and it only has 62k miles. Are the t56's just a bad tranny?

but i have no idea how it broke the teeth off of the cluster shaft i dont know what would cause that. Does it happen often with t56's?

I'm glad I'm not the only one looking for a cluster shaft. Mine lost sixth and was trying to push out of fifth. It also chewed up the teeth on the cluster shaft extension. So far D&D is the only one I've looked at that sell the cluster shaft. It's just alittle pricey at $599.

I don't know if you can buy the shaft without the gears or not? If you can it should save quite a bit of money. If anyone knows the answer to this please post up and help us out.

It might be. I haven't looked that close at mine since my mechanic tore it apart.

First, GTO T56 uses the same internal parts as Vettes(F body T56 are completely different). I do have extra cluster gears if you want to buy one. This came out of a 950+ RWHP Vette and it did not survived.
