To all those that are worried, it was ONLY a set of 28 PP's, of which (last I checked, 25 have been found) and they were made in August. So, if you bought a clutch anytime BEFORE that, you are good to go....

So the issue at hand is a DD gear change (hard to get into gear) issue, not a WOT situation?

Interesting, because my car is difficult to shift at lower RPM speeds. It feels like I have to push thru the syncro's to get it into gear, and sometimes force it into reverse (even after the standard reshift 1 to 2, then reverse while parked) I have thought it normal for LSx aftermarket clutches.

Is this the issue you are speaking of with the Monster Clutches? If so, please PM me.

big thumbs up to MONSTER...
Way to stand above the rest. This makes me feel even better, owning a clutch of a company that tries to take care of their customers so well. Its always a risk when hotroding any car, so the collateral damage sucks (extra labor or other parts) but still great to see this

thanks for taking care of us

Hey Derrik,

Its Adam Daniels, I left you a message last night. This is the first time I have checked LS1Tech in weeks however I am pretty sure my PP is one of these clutches. The problem I am having is its extremely hard to get it into gear and after replacing the master and pulling the whole tranny again just to find everything looking alright to the eye it pretty much has to be a PP problem. Please check my order to confirm that it was one of those clutches. I ordered it July 30th and it wasnt shiped untill August 5th. Please shoot me a call as soon as you can.

I'll start this reply stating that I actually replied in this thread last week and for some reason it is not here... I do not know what happened, but, here we go...

You also told me that just b/c your clutch was beefier than my previous spec 3 that i would probably need an adjustable master. Now im not trying to argue im just very frustrated. However what i would like to know is how are all these people with spec 3+ and 4's running with a stock MC and working just fine? i know your stage 3 is not above those. Also is it normal for 4 out of the 6 pucks to not rest flat on the PP?

Spending 680 on a clutch then being told i might have to buy another $350 adjustable master is not something anyone should have to do. Also you state on numerous occasions that your clutch does not require a shim yet jonathon at tick frequently uses shims on your clutches, why the discrepency? I know you guys are here to help and this is why in asking questions, again im not trying to knock the company in any way. You can send me a label, why not, since the motor blew i have nothing but time.

However if a company is going to claim that just b/c their clutch is beefier than my last setup and that i will most likely need an adjustable is absurd and costly if you want a decent unit.

This still does not answer my question as to how many people use a stock master on spec level 3+ and 4s with no problems which are in fact above a monster level 3. It also does not answer the discrepency in why tick installs shims on monster clutches when they are specifically designed not to use a shim. My car shift through the gear just fine during normal driving. The problem is WOT, it simply will not hit the gear unless i let up on the throttle to shift. The clutch has pressure even with the brake pedal which is exactly where it should, however the clutch does not actually feel like its disengaging till half way to the floor. To me this feels like a shim should be installed, but once again the motor is out of the car and does me not good to look at this point.

Nor did i ever say i was gonna go through the work of doing it, b/c i think it would be a waste of time. However I have posted 3 or so times now asking why Jonathan at tick would use a shim in monster clutches when they are made not to use them and you have not answered? I know steve does not frequent this board so if he answers then great.

I like how low you need to sink to try and call someone a name over an internet forum b/c you just got owned. Again if you did any real reading on these clutches, Steve from SNL himself has post that these clutches DO NOT NEED SHIMS, and if they measure to need one you should not install and contact him immediately. These clutches do not come with shims like specs do therefore obviously there is an issue if you do need one plus the additional cost of having to buy a shim b/c they arent supplied. So please dont respond unless your going to answer with a decent reply along with a logical answer instead of just calling someone a dumbass when you cant even explain the discrepancy.
Just to save us all a lot of headache your pressure plate was not in the defective group like I originally told you. You had a bent disc that was causing your issue. This could have been from installation, shipping damage, or when we assembled the disc. Either way an entire clutch kit has been shipped to you to take care of you.

Our clutches do not require shims or adjustable master cylinders at all. We designed them to be placed in your car as it comes from the factory. If someone calls us and asks us to recommend a master cylinder we will NEVER recommend the terrible stock master cylinder, we will always recommend a Tick simply because they work.

I can't believe anyone would install a performance clutch and expect it to perform - without upgrading the hydraulics. The stock hydraulics blow period.

With my level 3 monster and tick master - all I have to do is bump the clutch to do a WOT powershift. I can shift it so quick the revs don't even go up. I've set at the tree @ 6000rpm as well and the car doesn't even move - so I have zero disengagement issues.

If I ever manage to kill this clutch - I'll order another monster immediately.
Thanks a ton for the kind words!!

Either way A+ customer service helping me w/ my problem. I have a feeling this was comming....since the begining no problems; then a weird rash. Steve stepped up to the plate BIG TIME for me. This is why i didn't post anything bashing anyone or anything..u have to give the vendor a chance to take care of u 1st. If ur an ass...it is a LOT harder to get help from anyone. 2 other vendors swore it was my bleed...however im no NOOB; Steve knew that and after i bled it good for 2 hours we knew the problem was internal.
Again thanks for taking care of my problem in the manor u did Steve A+!!!
P.S. The new clutch drives good...when i saw the disk i was like shit; it's gonna be a grabby mofo lol, not near as bad as it looked. Part throttle when u shift it grabs; but in a good way...i have a total different feeling about this clutch i can tell in 150 more miles when i pwr shift the HELL outta it; it's gonna grab like a mofo!!!
Thanks again.
And while most companys NEVER admit they somehow have a faulty product; u have stepped up to the plate my friend...keep this up and ur business will only grow farther than u ever thought of...
Thanks a ton man!

Yours was not in this defective batch, it had a "one off" problem.

First and foremost these are not "normal" issues, this is a recall plain and simple. Things happen and we never will claim to be perfect, this is why you have a warranty. Out of almost 2400 clutches we've had less than 100 defective returns, ~30 of which were this very recall, to me those numbers speak volumes.

I will not try and convince you, I will merely throw some facts out there and let you decide.
  • Best warranty in the industry. 12 month unlimited mileage!
  • 12 different levels to suite all driving styles
  • ~3% warranty return

If you have any more technical questions you can give me a call directly and I'll answer anything you've got.
