Default Clutch engaging at very top of pedal

I have a SPEC 2 clutch and and flywheel in my 2000 Trans Am. Its basically stock except for an intake and cat-back. The clutch has about 4000 miles on it (maybe a lil more) and it doesnt slip, but the clutch doesnt completely engage untill the pedal is ALL the way out, at the very top. Theres only about 2 or 3 inches of pedal movement where the clutch is engaging/slipping and then the rest of the pedal movement is just dead space. I'm not sure if this is normal or if maybe my clutch neads to be shimmed(or shims taken out) I didnt install it, I had a garage do it. Is it normal for a higher performance clutch to engage at the very top of the pedal?

My spec 2 does the same thing. Nothing down low but has a sweet spot where it engages about 1-1.5" from the top.

I havn't had any problems with my clutch either. It doesnt slip (yet) and the chatter is hardly noticeable, if at all sometimes. I'm just worried that as the clutch wears, its going to start slipping sooner than it should since the pedal is so high.

I have mine set at the top of the stroke. Lot less time wasted when shifting gears while at WOT.
