| T56 Rebuild: local or T56rebuilds.com I want to go with a T56rebuild.com rebuild but I am exploring my options. What do you guys think about having a local shop do it. I have no known broken parts, but I do want to get New 1-2 Slider, New 3-4 Slider, New 5-6 Slider, Carbon Fiber Synchros, 3/4 Billet Keys, Steel 3-4 Fork, Bronze Fork Pads for 1-2 fork, Bronze fork pads for 3-4 fork. This is the T56rebuild.com 2A package. I have a friend that had his rebuild at http://www.mandmtransmission.com/ and had good luck for the one year he had it in the car. I just want to see how many of you would trust or use a local transition shop. If you would tell me if you would or wouldn't and why.
Thanks
Kyle

| i can't offer any factual information for you, but one thing that would be the difference for me is that t56rebuilds.com specializes in t56s, that place you posted doesn't even have t56s on their website. they specialize in automatics. im also willing to bet t56 rebuilds will be less expensive

| I just bought basically everything you named from T56 rebuilds along with a couple other little things. Amber can really help you get what you need and theprices are outstanding (@ least compared to the locals here).

| This is a good question. Can't any transmission shop do the same quality of work? No doubt T56Rebuilds.com is awesome, but... If you count shipping of the core to them and the tranny back, it adds up. Just curious, like the original poster.
Now, in my situation, the town where I live, there's no question where I'll go.

| I am sure anyone can build a good transmission it is just the quality of work at hand. I usually tell people make sure they have at least 3 behind there belt before choosing any tranny shop in your town. Alot of the smaller trans shops sent them to us since there guys are unsure about how the rebuild works. We have had several in the past that have tried numerous times to do a rebuild on a customers car and it just kept coming back for small problems. If you are not careful during assembly springs can come off sliders, sliders can get jammed and blocker rings can become cracked.
Just make sure who you use has a good rep, good customer service and will stand behind there work.
Thanks,
Amber

| I've called a couple of trans shops in past years, and they didn't give me a lot of confidence when I mentioned I had a T-56. Several shops said they didn't even work on manuals. Anyway, I've read many positive comments about T56rebuilds, so that's where I'm going in the future.
