Default Connverting to an M6??>>

I have an 2000 SS A4 and have done all the bolt-ons and suspension mods and now need to go into the driveline and my ? is what is all needed to convert from an A4 to an M6. the reason i wanna do this is because this is the first automatic car i have ever owned and once i get it all built the way i want it i wanna race it but not drag race like road/course type racing so for this an M6 is needed to have the control of the car and such. And is it gonig to be worth it and what is all needed. Im not worried about install or anything my shop can do that.

Thanks for helping me out

It's extremely expensive. A friend of mine did it to his Mustang and it was also very labor intensive. You need a tranny, a clutch, flwheel, clutch pedal, master cylinder, slave cylinder, shifter, center console, and maybe a driveshaft. You will also need a place to mount the clutch pedal. I'm sure they all come with same setup around the pedals, regardless of whether it's an auto or manual. It makes more sense for GM to make them all the same and just put the corresponding pedals in each car. I don't know if the T56 tranny mount is compatible with the A4. I don't mean to bust your bubble, but unless you are extremely attached to the car, your best bet is to buy a car with a M6 already in it.

Why do people who have no idea what they are talking about even reply to these threads?

I did a conversion about a month ago. It's best to trade with someone. Everything bolts up as if it was a factory m6 car except for drilling 2 large holes and some wiring. Email me if you need help/tips.

I have done 6 speeds in several 3rd gens (same car from the firewall back....I just didn't have to work with the new computers)....and can do one in a long day (or 2). The physical part of the swap is easy. Unbolt the pedal bracket and pedals, change them. Drill the hole for the clutch master cylinder. Mount the trans, flywheel, clutch, etc. Then, cut a hole for the shifter and bolt everything up. I'm sure 4mulajoe can assist with any wiring changes (since he just did a 4th gen). It is not that bad, I'd say go for it! Good luck!
