Well Im AF Security Forces, and you kno what, Females may be able to do what Males can do but more often than not they choose to use there sex to get what they want on the job, ie BTZ. Ive lost some good positions because of a few females that didnt deserve it. But thats not a reason to believe that they cant do what we can. And as for "checking ID Cards" yes you do ALOT of it in SF. But the great thing about that is if your a Amn and a Chief walks up without the proper credentials.....he's not goin anywhere. Another upside is that when you get pricks like this one who think thats all we do, and he doesnt have a valid Line Badge or it isnt displayed properly, you can A- be cool and tell him to "fix" himself...Or option B- Put him on his face handcuff him and physicaly escort him outside the restricted area. And another thing, when we train, we train hard, full battle rattle, Kevlar, knee pads everything. On top of that its 100+ degrees out so You'll figure out real quick to not let anyone badmouth our carreer field. Its great, and where else will an E7+ follow the orders of a E2. Just sayin
O I believe you on the girl issue. I mean hell if I could shake my ass and get ahead I probably would as long as I didnt hurt anything hahahaha
But That goes for anything! Its life... sex plays a big role and every job I've worked, every school I've attended there has always been a female given 'extras' for no apparent reason... but we all know why. I've actually seen it with males too. Of course in the military you will only hear of the females.
Anyway I'm excited I've been training all month, I've put on 15 pounds of muscle (extremly hard for me to do) and I leave VERY SOON. I'm stoked.
Either opportunity would be awesome. I like dogs and weapons haha. I might've missed it but where are you stationed?
Man, I wanna go to the schoolhouse and become an instuctor, that shits awesome. Youll find out when you go to tech school, It sucks for us but the instructors have a pretty good time. They just BS and get to yell at all the new dumbass airman. Some of the shit that happens while yur in tech school is pretty funny youll see.
Being a SNCO and having spent the last 18 years in AFSOC (That is Air Force Special Operations Command for you non-AF guys) you all need to take a step back and realize that any job, even if it is the guy washing the shitters at the gym is an important job. If you feel you need to brag about how much better your job is, or how much harder your job is, then in all honesty you must suck at your job. If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.
I'm a helo crew chief by trade (MH-53's). I have had TACP guys help me out when I went on an MRT in Afghanistan in 2002. I have had SF (or what I refer to as air base defense, or force protection specialists) help me out when I was ass deep in Africa in 2004. I have had the damn predators help out flying cover from who knows how many miles away.
I worked a special duty as a Combat Aviation Advisor for 5 years in the 6th SOS at Hulrburt and we had every damn AFSC under the sun there. I pounded sand with the likes of PJ's, SERE, CCT and every damn Cop in my flight was a graduate of Ranger school as well as Air Assault. It was a true testament of what a bunch of different bone heads could do when you put them all toegther. We would spend weeks at a time living in the weeds in countries that 1/2 of America doesn't even know existed.
Anyway...Take some time and learn from each other instead of showing how big your balls are, you might be better off.

To the OP that want's to be SF, don't let reasons like the ones above be the deciding factors for you. Do it because you think you'd enjoy it, not because you might get to throw some dude down on the pavement because you couldn't see his line badge. It's douchebags like this one that give SF a bad name.

Having been in the AF and career field on and off since 1980 (currently AD MSGT) I can tell you A-holes like that don't last very long. Usually end up with a general discharge.
My favorite moto used to be "Don't let your rank and my authority get you confused." However there is a time and place for everything. Don't go around acting like billy bad ass carrying a badge, sooner or later someones gonna try ya. I've seen it before. Sometimes for those guys the ESRT or LE patrol is a little slow in making the response time too.

Prior AD Navy (machinist mate), prior AF civil engineer(3E271 dirt boy) and currently an AD AF cop checking in. From a guy thats been around, seen alot I'd say that whatever you decide to do, do it well. The rest will take care of itself.
The cop career field is large has a very diverse group of people in it. Are you gonna be the top performer or the dirtbag?
The beret is there for recognition, not because we are a BA. Its for identity, nothing more.
TACP, PJ's etc get much respect from me and every one I've met has been as quick to buy me a beer, as I was for them. I dont understand all the fuss. Lord knows I've spent many a day checking IDs or working a static post guarding concrete. It can suck bad, but its a job that still has to be done.
One thing I noticed immediatly when swapping over from Navy to AF is that AF personell spend way too much time talking, critiquing and worrying about what everyone else thinks of them, even amongst other members of the AF. For me its enough that I know I do a good job.
I was just surfing around and found this post. Congrats on the enlistment make it all that you can and want it to be. I agree with alot of the statements here about letting things get out of hand and thinking your better then everyone else, no one likes or wants to be around guys like that.
Now with that being said Ive served my country proudly in a true special forces team. All divisions of the military have there place. I believe its the person him/her self that make the difference. Ive done things and seen things that most people couldnt possibly imagine. I live with the nightmare everday and everyhour of my life of the things Ive had to do. I was shot twice trying to rescue a fallen soldier in Afghanistan. It was my team that ultimately got both of us out. Im very proud to say I earned my beret but be careful what you wish for you might just get it. A true soldier of honor and courage dont have to go around trying to convience people your a badass, they will know it and respect it.
Goodluck in the AF.

UPDATE
Well folks I am in my tech school dorm across the street from my dam bmt sqad now. To all the d-bags in the beginings of this long ass thread who said I would get recycled/discharged blah blah blah.... I got honor grad and marksman and I did pretty dam good in BMT. Now i'm ready for the next step and i'm stoked!
so to the poster above.... i'm the top performer and i love it!
enjoy tech school, it sucks and you will see why when you get to your duty station. im security forces, i like it. i have worked with the sog and am currently doing QRF (now called FPP force protection patrols) and am outside the wire every day. we get blown up, shot at, find weapon cashes, same as the army. just volunteer for the good deplopyments (get in good with your UDM) any extra school, make the best out of it. also you can cross train.
ps. research everything. i told my recruiter i didnt want to check IDs or be a cop so he F**ked me good haha. oh yeah your dream sheet doesnt mean S*&T.

PRP?
Nuke base/missile field, most likely up north somewhere cold. There are some neat fly away missions a few of em get to do though.
If you find yourself at a place like Minot or out in a missile field dont fall into the trap of the dirtbags with the low morale. Those guys wouldnt be happy with a job as a pie taster. Those guys exist at every base, I call em the nay saying nimrods of negativity. All you need to do is find 1 good staff or tech sgt and stay in his/her hip pocket and learn learn learn.
Well about half the people recieved PRP bases, But i didnt! I honestly wasnt too excited about being PRP, and now i'm super happy I got Mac Dill in Tampa Bay! Woot! lol
