1800lbs is tough to believe. As far as I know the only hondas that you can get that light are the older CRXs.

But a hatch like that you can get down very close to 2000lbs. Also remember the honda had a passenger as well.

I wasn't aware that taking out the carpet/backseat/sound deadening made a car less safe in a crash... too many people attach weight with safety. Weight *can* be a decent indicator of how good a car will do in a crash because weight *can* show how well the structure of a car is built. But some cars have very strong platforms and hardly weigh anything. So weight is not even close to the best indicator of how well a car will do in a crash. If you keep your trunk loaded with 1000lbs worth of sandbags does it make your car safer?

If you are nut cutting weight out then it does not matter. Hatches are light as it is, barley 2,000 pounds. I can't see that car being under 2,000 pounds with driver though but 1,800 is doable... I just don't see it in that car, if he got it weighed and people saw it then I would beleive it.

This is why you can take a 400hp car and make it fast.

4550lbs. N/A 530rwhp

Honda 1800lbs 340whp

Say a second per 1,000 pounds.... so weight alone the Honda will run 2.5 or so second quicker and if about 100 hp is worth a tenth then the Caddy has a .2 or so advandage so in theory the Caddy would need to pick up 2.3 seconds to make up for the weight.

I have nothing against imports but end of the day that civic is garbage and even if he did beat that ctsv...he lost in life because im sure if the ctsv driver wanted the civic, with that turbo setup or a better one, he could afford it but i doubt that would work visa versa imo.

I wouldn't say that the civic was/is garbage. The whole point was for that guy to have a badass street car for a very low budget. Around $6,000 (I believe he said.) He def. accomplished that goal.

To each his own

Why does something like this always get brought up in threads like these? Is it some sort of measure to make you sleep better at night?

Those things are very unsafe. they will crumple like a can whether their stripped or not.

I do think of safety when thinking of which car I'de like to build up for racing or my daily driver, but I think I'm the exception.

Because it never matters if the crappier car wins the race

Haha... The civic guy will have enough $$$ to buy whatever he wants if he bets smart....

I once had an Astro van I stuffed a 383 Lingenfelter in with a 100hp hit.
Looked like a toaster... Plates said HAHAWE1.
It would 60' in the 1.7's on the slicks that were ALWAYS in the van just not on it. It went LOWLOW 12's back in 1994 and passed emissions for a TBI 4.3v6.

It was junk but it was very needed in order to by my ZX-11 (cash)!
Ka-CHING.

There's more to life than what you show....

Nice B18....
Repaint it crappy and move! SHHHHHHHH.
