the McLaren F1 won the 1/4 mile race but lost the mile race. that was sweet. i figured it would have been the opposite. we already know which car wins the top speed race......

I can't watch the vid, but i thought bugattis did 0-60 in 2.4 seconds or something? In anycase what do both vehicles run in the 1/4? and in 1 mile too if anyone knows.

The McClaren is 15 years old so it did well. I'd like to see where the Konigsegg fits into the mix since it beat the McClaren and the Bugatti is the car that dethroned it. I don't have any experience with any of them but it would be interesting to see.
I agree on both, I have always loved the F1, and want to see those two + the Aero(the certified fastest production car also originally using an LS motor)

There's no turbo lag at all with the veyron. It was the weight that gave the advantage to the mclaren out of the hole, but as explained in a previous episode of top gear, the faster you go the more power you require to go that speed. The veyron had the 400 extra ponies to go the extra 20-30mph, but the mclaren had the couple hundred less pounds to get out of the hole quicker.
Great show, I want to see a 3 way with the CCX, then I'll die happy.

I knew that outcome before I clicked the link. The mclaren hauls ballz thru its first few gears, but takes forever after that to get up to its top speed. Has everything to do with the weak rear end gear ratio of the mclaren. 2.37 gears were only put in back then to achieve the top speed. Thats pretty useless in the real world. I think if the mclaren had the same 3.64 gears the bugatti has, the mclaren would have won the whole damn race! Still, a badass race, and very entertaining tho! Nothing is ever gonna change my opinion of the mclaren being my all time favorite car
