Not even close. They are C5 ZO6 ti with MagnaFlow tips and a custom made electronic cut out that bypasses the muffler going straight to the tips, allowing some airflow to still enter the muffs, AND it is with cats. It is a C5 coupe. It does sound great, and not at all objectionable from inside the car.

As Amerkin mentioned (Hey Dennis!) I fabricated the entire catback utilizing factory Z06 titanium mufflers (lightweight, nice sound, and zero drone) and made a "Y" pipe incorporating QTP electric cut-outs to allow the exhaust gases to bypass the mufflers. When the cut-outs are closed the exhaust gases are forced to route directly thru the mufflers and while it sounds nice but doesn't quite have the "edge" or the bark as it does open obviously....great for cruising home late at night and not pissing off the neighbors. Whats cool is I can cruise around even with the cutouts open and unless you lay into the throttle, cruising around is not much louder than with the system closed (which I wasn't expecting), but WOT blasts with the cut-outs open and the shreik from this motor keeps begging you to do it again...
I think the fact the exhaust is still exiting the tips and traveling the entire length of the car (unlike a conventional "dump" type of cut-out, really adds to the exhaust note...also I feel the muffler still in line somehow adds or changes that note as well. Also, being totally anal for lack of a better word, I ported the inside of the "Y" pipe and optimized every internal restriction in the exhaust by grinding inside all the joints to maximize flow. I can still taste the metal from breathing all the grinding dust and fumes from that 3 week project....LOL
It's much easier to understand what I did by looking at some pics....I will try to post some later this weekend. Obviously it doesnt hurt that the engine is a completely optimized 383 with AFR 225's making close to 500 RWTQ and almost 540 RWHP. I shift it about 7200 RPM's.
Also, I will be working on an "in car" video of this engine real soon so stay tuned for that.
Thanks for all the positive comments btw....someone just brought this thread to my attention recently or I would have chimed in sooner with some "clarifications" of a few of the details....gotta love the Internet!....LOL
Regards,
Tony
PS....NO Dennis....I'm not going to build this for you! (my famous last words!)
Barry....Yet another shameless QTP plug!!
