another 240 ls1 question

i have a gto ls1 and on silviav8 and other forums they say a recommended upgrade before swapping is the ls2 timing chain.
you guys help me out.
is the stock one really that bad?
would it be better for me to just wait till i get my performance package down the road(timing chain of course,heads,cam..)

With the motor out of the car you might as well do it now and get it over with instead of going through all that again. The chain isnt that expensive either...

could you tell me the advantage to doing tihs? like timing? tuning? is it a great difference?
