hmmmm... well i guess you can but it aint gonna be a simple task.

id just get a 383 stroker LS1 or the 408 stroker LS2. its way easier plus with the 408 it can take a whole bunch of beating. prolly get Dart Pro I heads or AFR 225cc heads, vindicator II cam, FAST intake and throttle body prolly 90/90 or 92/92 then idk tuned and that should have around 500rwhp

my bad guys...

408.. good sized cam.. 9090 intake.. decent set of heads.. exhuast.. yada yada yada...

your looking at right around 7 grand or so pretty easily..

would be easier to shoot for around 450.. you would be paying a LOT of money for 50 horsepower..

why must you hit 500? and why must you stay NA?

please do, i read somethin to that nature as wel but couldnt find anything

and yes, i'm trying to pull those numbers out of stock cubes NA, no NOS, no boost...

EDIT: i want to stay NA, jus because i do, i don't like the idea of NOS it's jus a preferance.... and turbos just seem too unreliable.... to be mnore specific i'm wanting a beast of a street car that jumps the 2 front wheels at the track.... if that helps at all =/ i was looking around and a generalization of 500rwhp seemed to be what i wanted from what i saw...

500rwhp out of a stock cubed NA ls1 is near impossible.. have a couple people done it? yes... but your looking at BIG bucks and a HAPPY dyno..

you can have a BEAST of a street car and pull the tires off the ground at the track with 425rwhp (i do)...

if you HAVE to hit 500rwhp.. and you dont want nos and you dont think turbos are reliable..

GET A PROCHARGER!!!!! on a bone stock car @ 8 lbs (that is a safe amount of boost) you should be right at 500rwhp or a TAD more..
add LT's a cutout TB and you should be sitting pretty decently around 535rwhp or so..
reliable, VERY street friendly, etc etc etc..

ok, where do you suggest i start? since the answer is a supercharger, which isnt a problem in my book [maybe my wallet tho]
where should i start to build the 425rwhp? i suppose the charger can come later once i have everything that will support it done

sorry i'm not the most intelligent on the subject, i just got into the modding scene about 2 years ago and money has limited me thusfar

well... you can buy a used procharger kit with absolutely everything you need for install for around 3500...
to be safe i would throw some injectors and a fuel pump in it (250 bucks)..
and a tune.. depends on your tuner for the cost of this..
get a cutout, you can find them all day for around 30 bucks..
get a lid for around 60 bucks..

run around 8lbs...
this will make you happy for a long time!

OR...

go with a decent sized cam.. something like a 230ish duration 600 lift
set of PRC ls6 heads (just sold mu stg 1s with dual springs for 950)
ls6 oil pump and ls2 timing chain figure around 200 bucks
pushrods im selling mine for 85
stall if your an auto- 400ish.. gears if your an m6- 300ish.. (i still suggest gears for an a4)
intake.. ls6 wont cut it for 450rwhp... you will need a FAST 9090.. you can pick them up for around 850 or so..
tune- depends on tuner again

either one of those are very good builds.. procharger will be more friendly and make more power and much more room to grow..

H/C is NA... so if you dont want a power adder this is your way... and you can add nitrous later...

what you can NOT do is..... setup your car to make max NA power.. then add a procharger... it takes COMPLETELY different setups.. heads for a NA beast would be a killer flowing head that ups compression, for a procharged setup you would want a 6.0 truck head thats knocks compression down..
big cam for NA, small cam for FI...
list goes on and on..

hope that helps.

I'd personally go for the procharger setup. You can do it pretty much without touching the engine minus fuel and tuning. If you go n/a heads are $1500 cam swap $1000 intake $800. 3300 right there and there will be little nickel and dime things like tuning and fuel. A used procharger kit can be had for $3500 or maybe less as stated above. 8psi will make you smile for a long while, general rule of thumb is for every lb of boost is 10% increase in hp. So when 8 is boring just swap a pulley to make 10 or 12 psi or more if your ballsy.
just my .02
