I could be wrong cause I ditched my 16"ers long ago but IIRC I thought they were 8" and a 255 was max..... this on a stock Z-28 or T/A.

Yes the 17'"ers are 9.0" and on the SS/WS6 models...... 285's will fit but hard to find...

Stock 16" wheel is 8" wide, as stated above. 255/50/16 will fit fine (stock size was 245/50/16). I've never personally tried to fit anything bigger than a 255 on a 16x8" wheel.

The SS/WS6 cars came with a 17x9" wheel and 275/40/17 tires stock. You can fit a 285 on the rear of those without problems. But I think the only two tires left in a 285/40/17 size are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 and Goodyear Eagle GS-C EMT (runflat). This was the stock tire size on the rear of late C4 Corvettes, and I don't beleive that any other car used this size stock so there is very little demand.

Like everyone has said before me. 8" Rims fit 255 tires wide Comfortably. Could you fit 265's? SURE?! But could you roll that tire while doing donuts. Fuck yeah!!

As far as wall size go, I would go with a 45 wall or a 40 wall. Better cornering with less Tire wall flex. You will need a tune to adjust for it but you can't go wrong. It will lower the stance of the car and you'll be able to hammer corners!!

But really, some 255/45/16's look really good on these cars.

ahahaha I was gonna go with a small tire like a 245, but it was my dads Idea to throw in a fat tire, to make it look like his 72 nova, when it had the rallies installed. so I said ok. ill check it out. It was gonna be a 275 or 285 on it, but I fell in love with the 295. It looks sick. I love it. i get better traction as well.

To be honest, The tires I have on right now, they are all used.
I payed 80 for both of the front ones, and they are really really new.
I payed 100 for both of the rear tires and they were also new as well.
so all together, $180, and I had them for a yr and half now, and still have thread. Im surprised that after doing some burnouts here and there, they still have thread. haha.

I've seen people do 315s, but I'm not so sure that I would. I have a 285 on a 9.5" wheel right now that fits perfect, I'm sure 295 would work fine too but I don't think anyone makes a 17" diameter tire in that width at the proper aspect ratio for our cars.

For a 17x9.5"? Not at all. I have 17x9.5s all-around, with 275/40/17 up front and 285/40/17 out back (GY GS-D3s). I just think the 285s look better in the rear.

If you were able to find a 295/40/17, and mount it on a 17x9.5" wheel, it'd fit just fine in the rear. People run as big as a 315/35/17 on a 17x11" or 17x10.5" wheel out back (though they often have to do a bit of clearancing). But fitting a 295 up front would be difficult....I wouldn't do it. I tried a 285/40/17 up front and even that had some fitment issues (mostly due to the 17x9.5" wheel on a 46mm offset, 285s will fit up front with a 17x9" wheel and the stock 50mm offset).
