what are some that you have made. mine would have to be buying that stupid ass SLP flow pac before i really knew anything about ls1's :o. i payed 320 bucks for that damn thing. i've come along way since then .

if i new what i know now i'd of gone with a tsp/direct flow lid, FTRA, and the fernco mod.

Mine would be buying the 80 series flowmaster instead of GMMG or True Duals.

I should not have jumped the gun and bought SLP headers. First, they are a rip off and second, there are better headers for cheaper prices out there. The SLPs reduce ground clearance significantly. The bottom of my collectors are scraped. I try to avoid SLP as much as possible. They're too pricey.

Cool

I don't think I've made any... At least so far...

Unless you count paying Midas $65.00 (1hr labor) for a muffler installation...

Before I've modded any of my F-bodies, I have read as much as possible about them and the mods, so I've been able to avoid any costly mistakes.

pacesetter's (noisy banging) LT's, coulda spent $100 more and not had the problem.

Clear Corners (z28) - Broke the first one after fishtanking it (shoulda read the forums on these cheapo devices).

buying off Ls1tech (you don't always save buying used parts).
(likewise i did get some great gears new here cheaper)

I would have to say buying that POS Nos 5177 dry kit and not steping up to a wet kit sooner.

changing my car up after I had it setup perfect...thought i wanted something bad ass looking to drive around so i sold all my racing stuff (drag wheels, light weight seats, ect) to buy Z06 wheels and make the car look pimp. Then I was scared to park it anywhere....afraid some punks would F%(K with it and then I missed going to the track, so I ended up selling the Z06 wheels and buying another set of drag wheels again and am now in the process of wanting another race seat exactly like i had. But hey at least I bought the right car the first time (stripper) for what I wanted to do. I think that is the one big mistake most make is buying an all option car and then later trying to strip everything out of it for weight reduction

I guess another one would be spending extra money on a true dual setup with the option to swap in cats, and now the cats just stay on the shelf in the garage.

Buying a converter (although it performed very well) from a company that ended up going under months later, just to sell the converter and only get maybe half of what i had into it

I guess those would be the main ones.

I don't think I regret anything yet. I made sure I read and researched all I could since I joined LS1tech.

"I would have to say buying that POS Nos 5177 dry kit"

What problems did you have with it? I used to drop over a second in the 1/4 with it and it never failed me. Ran 10.8s with bolt-ons too. I've noticed that most of the people that complain of low power with a dry kit don't keep the bottle pressure over 1100psi like they should (dry kits just don't work well at all with the standard 800-900 psi that people tell you to use with nitrous.) Then they swap over to a wet kit and notice huge power increases while still running it at 800-900 psi which makes the wet kit seem far superior.

Nothing major, maybe a bigger cam, but we all say that. Main problem is getting ahead of myself swapping parts between fbods that I trade, and forgetting some basic ones, like a friggin thermo and SSRA...

Luckly I haven't made any so far thanks to this board and the friends at home who have tried the mods. So I have a 224/581 114lsa, double roller timing chain, and I pro 5.0 with lou's all to install when I get home. Also I plan on headers either pace or hooker LT's and some 4.10's. Maybe a wet kit before the end of the season. Let me know if this is a good start.
Thanks
Brandon

Ditto. I have a Flowmaster 80 series sitting in my storage, which I bought before I knew how crappy they were on these cars...at least I found out before I put the damn thing on.

oh, yeah...porting my MAF is a big one.

Other than that, this site has saved me from doing some stupid things performance-wise and taste-wise
