I will tell you not to use co2. A nitrous bottle will not have enough pressure or capacity to support another. Our system is not a pusher system. Pusher systems have a non-variable type regulator and increase pressure going down track. These type systems are known to be dangerous on motors, as they are hard to tune. This is why NANO has several patents on our variable type regulator.

It will need to support 5,000 psi or more. Check on the bottles for operating pressure.

Robert
Robert just to answer your question (since you've answered so many in this section)...

Acetylene tanks are unique creatures since they actually have a sponge in there and the acetylene itself is actually dissolved in formaldehyde. They also are not designed for high pressure, only about 100-220psi in an acetylene cylinder depending on fill weight (and of course it becomes unstable over 15psi or so).

An O2 cylinder may work but typical working pressures for an O2 cylinder are in the 2000psi range, never seen one over 3000, so the rupture disk is sized accordingly. Of note the CGA connection is a 540, different from N2. You could use a helium cylinder as they are often designed for high pressure and have the same CGA. CO2 wouldn't work as its a liquefied gas with a head pressure of 900psi, a bit low for what you want in this application.

Technically any typical high pressure compressed gas cylinder would work with the correct rupture disk. They are only manufactured in 2 styles, high pressure and low pressure. High pressure cylinders are what you typically see on any welding gas and are formed from stamping solid steel. The rupture pressure assuming no exposure to high temperature (and thus weakening of the metal) is somewhere around 10-12,000 psi. The only thing that determines what pressure they can handle is the size of the rupture disk - so they are not stamped with max pressures. Low pressure cylinders are typical of what you see in propane or butane usage and have welded seem.

Also for future reference in this thread, you need a 580 CGA connection on your fill line to connect to a nitrogen cylinder.

And one thing, please be careful when working with gases, keep the cylinder secured with a strap and keep in a ventilated place - believe it or not in the compressed/specialty gas industry, pure nitrogen is the leading cause of death, as it will displace oxygen and asphyxiate you.

Thanks for the Great Response!

We have used many CGA 677's and CGA 347's on the nitrogen bottles as well. Usually the cga 347's are on the 5,000psi nitrogen bottles and CGA 677's are on the 6,000psi bottles.

I would contact Nitro Daves Nitrous Outlet or Harris Speedworks for a fill station. They could point you in the right direction.

This place can do it, going back tomorrow as their tanks were too low to pressure my bottle to 4500psi today. After I move to west side of Houston I'll try the other location.

All I can find is a local paintball place but he only uses compressed air and can only fill my bottle to 3500 psi. This is kinda sh!tty. Cartek talked me into using Nitrous and this system because I wouldnt have to use a bottle heater and this is like "instant on" type nitrous. Now im stuck with a $600+ system that I an rarely use if I use it at all. When you guys made this system why didnt you let your custmers know that there is rarely NO shop that carries a machine that will pressurize nitrogen to 4500 psi? Was/is it because you wouldnt sell anything. I feel I have been ripped off in the worst of ways!

You DON'T need NITROGEN. All you need is someone that can give you compressed air to 4500 PSI.
If you used CARTEK, then you might be in NJ. Any welding shop (should be a bunch by Cartek) should be able to hook you up without a problem.
Good Luck
