Default Big Cubic Inch Nitrous Motor and 275 DR Car Build Thread

A month ago I posted on here regarding Aluminum vs Iron Blocks for max effort drag racing nitrous engines. A lot of you had some great comments and asked me to make a thread when I got started. So, today was day 1 and money will be wire transfered tomorrow morning to get started on the block and crank. These 2 pieces will take the longest to manufacturer... about 10-12 weeks.

Anyhow, here are some details on the car and engine being built.

Car:
2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. Its being built for 275 Drag Radial classes in PSCA and WCHRA on the West Coast. I will be taking the car either this weekend or next to start on all the chassis and safety improvements to get it cert'd beyond 8.50. This car already has a great foundation to work with but we need to do even better and we will!

Engine (just some basic stuff):
485 Cubic Inch LSx motor, 4.165" bore and 4.450" stroke
Dart LS1 Billet Block
Callies 4.450" Center Counterweight Crankshaft
Wiesco custom pistons
Dyers 300M Forged Rods
All Pro LSWr LS7 heads by West Coast Cylinder Heads
Jesel Belt Drive
Jesel custom shaft mount rockers
60MM camshaft in raised location
Custom Dailey Dry Sump
Custom Tunnel Ram intake w/ 2 4500 style TB's and plumbed for 2 Direct Port Fogger systems for a total of 4 stages Dry

I will update as progess is made and I hope to get pictures as the motor and car are being built. As we know

Thanks for looking!

Finally somebody is building a purpose built lsx race car here on the west coast.

cant wait to see it next year in person. we will be running the limited 8.5 tire class next year in the WCHRA. Hoping to go go 5.9xs on a simple stock ci setup.

Who is doing the chasis work and motor build?

Chassis work will be done by Theo Dec at Wizard Racing. He's in your neck of the woods... Woodland, CA. Prefer to keep the builder of the motor a for now.

Yes, Theo is the man. So much that I am bringing the car up from Los Angeles. LOL, just a secret for now on the engine builder.

Jesus Christ man.

This car should be able to hold it own with the blower boys. I've been wondering for a while why no one built a Warhawk or ERL 482 for a nitrous motor, I would think the more cubes the better.

You one upped my idea with the Dart Billet block super long stroke crank and billet rods. If you can keep the weight down that 8.50 cage won't really do shit for you since this car will be pushing 7's pretty easy I would think.

Wayne, you and Steve and the guys at RPM are my inspiration. The success you guys are having is motivating me to try and replicate it here on the West Coast. Thank you for always being a good resource! And you are right, next year is going to be very interesting and I know you and Steve are working on something better.

yup always love watching dee's car run. Good to hear Rodney's cars coming along nicely also. He had it out for a few races in Az last season, but only saw it out once on a drag radial (AZ WCHRA race). I deployed right after that so havent seen either run in a while. Rodney's brother is on this site

Yeah, Dee's car is incredible and a lot of fun to watch. He really has that car working very well and set the bar high. Its going to be fun trying to keep with those boys in Wild Street with a Small Block.

Probably around 7500 rpm's + or -. PAC springs and titanium intake and either titanium or inconel exhaust valves. Custom Jesel shaft rockers and Morel lifters and 60mm camshaft.
