Default Another Stock Short Block car in the 9's (vid)

Took a friend's car to Milan Dragway in Michigan last Saturday for their last test and tune of the year. We have be trying to get the car in to the 9's for most of the summer, and I have gained a new respect for everyone who already has done this. I have built this car for my friend, and am also trying to teach him to work on his own stuff, so it is sort of a fun project. The setup is pretty basic, and here is the run down:

1998 Trans Am

Drive Train:
Stock short block, Katech ported 241 castings, comp cam 232-228 595-605 112lsa, ls6 intake, Dynatech stepped headers, dual 3" to 4" open y-pipe, Cold Fussion direct port kit with stand alone low pressure fuel system, Coan th-350 with brake, coan 8in. 5200 nitrous converter, Moser 9in with Ford Track lock.

Suspension:
Pro Fab Front end, Hal single adjustable front and rear, Spohn torque arm, Bad Z lca's and panhard bar, Stenod Performance anti-roll bar, Aerospace front brakes, Weld Pro-Stars with 28-12.50 ET Street's and 26-7.50 Sportsman fronts.

We were having electronic issues all day, and this was the only pass the nitrous system worked. We are trying to get the car out to another track before the season ends, because we think with some more tuning the car should have a 9.6 or better. I definetly have to say thanks to Joe, Steve, Harlan, Kevin, and the rest of the guys at Stenod Performance! They were a huge help, and the car would not be where it is today with out their help. Well enough talk and on to the video:

http://home.comcast.net/~gpowrie/GPowrie.wmv.

The car owner will post up pic's of the slip and hopfully some of the car later.

By the way this car is street driven often, at least 4,000 miles this year.

Congrats, well done. A lot of people don't realize how much effort it takes to do nines. This is what I am doing, pushing the limits of a stock long block. Will be deep into the tens next season.

Thanks. I wouldin't be suprised to see 9's from you next year. We were shooting for mid 10's at the beginning of the season, and this is where we ended up.

Craig's computer took a dump. Not sure when he'll be back on line. I'll let him know. Are you Greg or is this Greg's car?

The kit was jetted for 250, straight up out of the hole. The car can still use some suspension work, but I think we are close. The track did get oiled down 4 cars before the pass though, which I doubt helped any.

howe many passes have you made on this motor with that big shot, and how much timing is pulled, and what fuel you using? Sorry for all the questions, but im trying to get an understanding what it will take to get to that and how durable it can be.

We ran a 200 shot all summer. The 250 was just this weekend. We run 93 pump gas in the car and c16 in the nitrous fuel cell. As far as durabuility, I would say any detonation(sp?) at that power level would be the end of a piston.

Timing was at 19 degrees total on the 200 hit and 17 on the 250.
