Default High Performance Pontiac Street/Strip Challenge

DON’T MISS OUT! HPP STREET/STRIP CHALLENGE AT THE YEARONE EXPERIENCE

You’ve talked about pounding on the competition from the other camps for years, now it’s finally put-up or shut-up time! Through the combined efforts of YearOne and HPP you’ll have the opportunity to spank Corvettes and Mopars on the dragstrip for bragging rights and prizes at the YearOne Street/Strip Challenge on May 16, 2008. Held during the YearOne Experience (May 16-18, 2008), if you are chosen to compete in this unique event, your attempt to take down all opponents on Atlanta Dragway’s super-sticky quarter-mile strip will be chronicled in H P P.

The rules are simple: Your ride must be insured, registered, inspected and legal for public roads and it has to survive a 25-mile test loop on the street without puking, breaking, or doing anything else to lose composure in the presence of the magazine staff. Then it must represent the Pontiac nameplate proudly on the dragstrip, because if the Vettes or Mopars are quicker, we’ll never live it down. The quickest Pontiac, Vette and Mopar will take home a big trophy for the mantel and a YearOne gift certificate for parts.

Previous HPP Shootout or feature cars are not eligible. A pump-gas combination isn’t mandatory and though D.O.T.-legal tires are required for the street test, slicks are recommended for racing. To be considered for induction to this battle of dragstrip supremacy, you must compose a brief synopsis of your Pontiac’s combination that includes year, model, engine size, trans, rear gear and best e.t../mph to date. Also throw in a few low-res photos of the body, engine and interior and tell us why you think your Pontiac is quicker than all of the Mopars and Vettes that will show up. Then e-mail Tom. DeMauro@ sourceinterlink.com. The cutoff date for entries is April 15, 2008. Participants chosen will be notified by phone by April 22, 2008.

Please act fast guys!

Thanks Tony (NineBall) for allow the magazine to post this thread.
