| Woodward Dream Cruise...August, 16 2008... I know it is early to start this thread, but I can't wait for Woodward this year! This will be my first year and I will be driving up from Saint Louis. I am leaving Thursday so that I will have all day Friday to get my car ready.
Who else is going? Is anybody coming from the Midwest?
Any tips for a first timer? http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com/

Does anybody know if there is a place where a lot of LS1tech members hang out?

| I'm in Ann Arbor and go every year. Advice for the newbie:
-Squealing your tires is a ticket. Every year I see a lot of people with out of state plates get hit with this one. The cops will literally walk off the median strip to your car and hand you the ticket. Burnouts, etc are a no go. Michigan tickets them as unsafe driving.
-Woodward itself is a giant parking lot Friday night and Saturday for the most part. If you can go on Sunday, a lot of really nice cars are hanging around and cruising. My favorite day of Woodward is Sunday morning, grab some breakfast and cruise Woodward with the other cars. You can actually drive.
Personally I normally park my ride on Saturday afternoon/evening and walk up and down Woodward to see what is going on. If you want to cruise Sunday is best, or Sat morning. If you want to sit in traffic go for Fri or Sat evenings.
Beyond that, have fun.

| I'm probably pretty lame b/c its the coolest thing I've ever done in my entire life. I'll never miss another 1. This will be my 3rd year, last year was better then the first and I'm hoping this year will follow suit. Seems to me the densist part is right around 13-15 mile. But up around pontiac the cops seem to be much more lienent about burnouts etc. Nobody can explain to you what to expect...its absolute madness. I spent the 2 1/2 hour ride home the first time freaking out about what I just expierianced(sp?). Its hard to envision 2 million people on 1 street at the same time. I'm going up on Thursday this time and wish I could spend 2 weeks up there. Its messed up for me to say..I can't wait til the end of summer

That's essentially what you're saying because that's EXACTLY what's going to happen if the U.S. auto industry is forced into a bankruptcy/restructuring.
This could ultimately lead to what will someday be referred to as THE END of life in the U.S. as it was once known.
Such a shame. | |

| This will be my fourth year at Woodward. There are no words to describe it. You've got to see it for yourself. Here's a link to one of last year's threads with pics and vids. 2007 Woodward Dream Cruise

Here are a couple questions...where do I park? Do you buy a spot? Does LS1tech have a section anywhere?
Sorry for the newb questions...

Sorry for the newb questions... | I'm a newbie on LS1tech so I don't know if they have a spot or not. For parking you pay to buy a spot. Pretty much everyone on Woodward rents out their parking lots. I normally park at a Walgreens right by 13 Mile. |

| I have been going for years. You have probably seen me driving a big black rig that says "PYPES" on it. We go up and down and sometimes we park at Pasqualies. Sometimes I gotta drive the boss' Mustangs, but hey, I am getting paid for it.!!

| I will be there with 4-5 peps from Cleveland...my buddy (shudog) lives in Royal Oak two blcoks away from Woodward. We went last year and I was overwelmd!!! It is by far one the best crusie I have seen other than the power tour....But honestly for only being a "true" one day event it absolutly awsome. It was hotter than hell last year too so lets hope for some more nice weather this year as well... |

| I'm trying to get mine back together for it. (If not may ride the bike up)
You want to hit the loop at the end of woodward to see all the burnouts. |

It will be my third time going.

| I've been going since the first one back in `95 and every year it seems to get bigger and more congested.
It's basicaly a 10 day car fest that culminates on the second Sat. but most of us Locals start going ot there as early as April.
Anyway As for Parking LS1 Tech Obviuosly does not have a Lot AFAIK
But I have been telling people for years to come up to Square Lake Rd area and Park in the Kingswood Square Strip Mall Lot.
Lots of room to park with food and restrooms nearby. It's located about 5 min South of Downtown Pontiac (where all the Burnouts are done) and out of all the congestion.
Everyone is welcome.
