Default Insurance companies and totaling f-bodies...

Will an insurance company total an f-body if the rear frame rails are bent up and the rear quarters are winkled even if the car is worth more than the repair cost?

I am literally in a rental because of this. I drive a 94 firebird, and they are paying me 1700 for the damages and not taking it.

my car had a wrinkle in the 1/4 that i didn't notice for over a week after my accident, and it was apparently big enough for them to deem it totaled. i was lucky enough to get my money back though and bought the still very nice car back from insurance for $50. sold it to a friend for $500(was worth way more), who then fixed it and still drives it.

Hopefully everything will work out, If they total it that's fine I have to buy it back anyway... should I take all the nitrous stuff out before the adjuster comes?

The firehawk value should be what they offer my insurance guy said if they didn't just give him a call and he'd work it out and if he couldn't they would value it for me and take it from there...

having a camaro, trans am firebird, that doesnt matter, what matters is how much is the car worth in blue book and how much is the damage?? you could have a 2009 camaro and if its only worth 17k, and the damage is 16.500, ya the car is going to total

here in chicago state farm totals out at 70% of the cars value. all other companies total out at 80-85%, state farm uses nada book, the other guys use kelly blue book, and guys having a modified car doesnt matter either, my oldsmobile is highly modified and state farm doesnt care the car is documented, and recipts have been copied to them with what modifications i have done, so removing the nos, and cleaning the car doesnt mean shit

if the nos was the cause of the accident, then it may slow down the repair process, becasue then the adjustor will have to rule out if you were drag racing and caused the accident, and if your modifications were documented by the insurcance company you have nothing to worry about, even if it wasntkeep in mind allot of adjustors are retired body fender techs and their not stupid and will see a modified car a mile away

so you say you were hit in the ass end, yes your car might total if the cost of the repair is more then the value of the car, yes it will, but if you have allstate guess what your car will be fixed, i hate working with allstate!!! you have to put in the fact of repairing the 1/4`s removing all the parts, set up and measure, pull time, then repairing the frame rails, if they cant be then we have to replce which is very costly

here its 48 an hour and we get 8-10 hours to replce and or section a frame rail, frame labor, paint labor, tax, cost of parts, material, clips, everything is put into a estimate, plus a hile mileage car hurts you too, every factor is in play when doing a estimate

so its not just the f-bodies, it`s every car on the road

bdyman is dead on. its all about money. repair vs. value they pay the lesser of the two. just because the frame is damaged does not total a car. ive got one at the shop now w/ the motor out and sectioning two frame rails. vehicle value is the key.

in kansas you have the right to recieve the ACTUAL CASH VALUE of a car. with the recent economy circeling the drain, the "blue book"" values have dropped terribly. Go out and look for a car as close to your car that you can, best to go to a dealer since they jack the prices up as normal. submit that to the insurance company.

now this isnt ALWAYS the case, there will be times that the car is worth less than what blue book says, in that case take the offer they give you.

You know you dont have to just take what they give you right? Do yourself a favor and get a lawyer, you'll get 3x the money. Especially if you're injured
