Default Did some more wet sanding....

and I have to say, I can't imagine doing this to the whole car. Because, damn it's time consuming. It's very worth while, just time consuming. It took me about 2 hours from start to finish on just one tail light. Then I gave up, because I'm tired. Oh well, I'll get to the other light some time in the future.

Anyways, here are some before and afters.

Before:

After:

Side by side:

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but like it said....just takes a lot of time.

That's a huge difference. But I'm guessing BLULS1Z28 has the right tools / equipment along with the experience to get it done quickly.

I'd love to have my car done one day, and I know it thins the clear coat, but my car sees less than 100 hours of sunlight a year, so I'm not too worried.

I wetsand mine sometimes. I find it easier to remove them from the car first. Maybe that's just me....It only takes me about an hour to wetsand and polish them both.

Did the other side, which didn't take as long. Started with 1500 then worked to 2000, then polished it out. The other tail light I started with 2000 and stuck with it. Still tedious work, but they look much better then before.

what did you use for polish? I assume these tail lights were just VHTed and cleared before you wetsanded/polished them?

I used just regular turtle wax rubbing compound and polish. Then some Pinnacle liquid souveran wax. It's basically just VHT, I sanded through all of the clear and some of the VHT, because they were much too dark for me. I really don't see the point to adding any clear, since VHT is basically a tinted clear.

It takes about 30-40 hours to do a whole car right. Great work!

Exactly, and I wanted to do it right. I was using 2000 grit on the drivers side, because I wanted the finest scratches. Then, I got more comfortable with the pass side, and went with 1500 to 2000.

Honestly, I think it's easier with them on the car. They don't roll around at all, and are much more stable. Just use a little painters tape if your hands like to wander, and you're good. I have a pretty steady hand, so I wasn't worried.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Damn lol.. I can do a whole car in I think 30 minutes, maybe an hour with 1500. Then about another our for the detailer to buff it.

Those tail lights look amazing though, did you do the center too? Can't tell. Time for you to do the whole car now lol..

Here is one car I did that looked pretty good, it's a $600 paint job though so it's not perfect.

1 hour to sand and 1 hour to buff a whole car, particularly black sounds like it would look like crap.

Idk they look amazing to me. I never knew it was supposed to take so long until now, I thought an hour was slow because I drag my *** when I do it. We stay like a little less than an inch from edges and stuff though so they don't have to worry about burning the paint.

Not exactly.. VHT doesn't set as hard as clear and isn't as scratch resistant.. it wouldn't of hurt to put clear on there for added UV protection benefits and lets say you get some scratches.. next time you buff that section of the tail you'll be polishing off some of the darkness, not the clear.. ask me how I know lol
