so when doing the prep job and after you paint it, does it have a smooth appearance or does it have to be wet sanded (if so, what grit)? i have heard that self done jobs do not turn out smooth. i am planning on doing mine soon and was wanting to know all the steps to do it and get it done right. also i am going to do it in semi gloss look. do i spray it with flat black base and semi gloss clear, or semi gloss black and semi gloss clear? any tips on keeping trash out of it? is there a sticky on how to do these, since so many people do it? also what brand paint and clear is best for the job? thanks
actually something that comes out really bad @$$ that ive seen, is take black base coat and put 20% reducer and 10% hardner into it and dont clear it. it comes out a little glossier.
I ended up with gloss on mine. I am getting my car back tomorrow. Ill shoot some pics of mine. I also agree its all about the paint scheme, because I personally like the semi-gloss, but with my paint scheme it just made more sense to go gloss! Great to see the thread still kicking and helping some guys out with there berger panel painting decisions!

i vote semi gloss, and sorry to hijack ur thread but how do i take this panel off to paint it? thanks! yes i searched and didint find anything!
remove your taillights, and spare tire and pull back some of the carpet, and you will see the wingnuts and nuts holding it in. nothing to it. by the way here is a pic of my semi gloss panel being installed.
