I dug through my old hardcopy files and found that more detailed listing, looks like some guy had these breakdowns posted on his college web-page (no longer there, I just checked). I even found that I had printed out breakdowns for '94-'98 (I had printed these in 3/99, so that's all the years I have). Sometime I'll copy this info into a spreadsheet and post it for all.

Of the 8656 '97 TA coupes built, 2827 were WS6s (this number is higher than the previously posted #, probably includes Canadian-sold cars), 1569 were white, and 5672 had A4s.

thank you so so much, ive called slp and they said unfortunantly there are no build numbers for these cars. i was hoping MAYBE they kept some kind of record of color, tranny, t top or vert.

so with the info you just gave me, there were 1,569 white WS6 T/A's built in 97, can anyone find out how many of those were 6 speed or auto?

edit = 463 97's were convertible

Oops, sorry I didn't see this sooner. 1,569 White T/A coupes were built in '97, including both WS6s and non-WS6s. I have no record of how may of the 2827 WS6 coupes were white, or how many of the 1596 White coupes were WS6s.

Hey Johnny, man thanks for all the info. It's great to know. Mine is black which should have been one of the more popular colors, I assume. There's obviously no way of knowing what the production number of those are.

How does someone go about determining what number theirs is...ie: #459 of 2827? That would be nice to know.

Thanks again...

So i called up the gm techline number 1-866-952-4368 and asked if they could give me my build number, and how many were produced exactly optioned like mine. The guy said i will have to call you back. He called back the next day to tell me the only info he could find is how many total firebird were made. So then for the heck of it i called SLP and they said the only firebirds they touched and would have info on is the firehawks. So all im dying to know is my build number of my car, how many were made just like it.

2000 Trans am Ram air, not WS6 ram air package, M6, T-tops, ebony leather, traction control, skip shift elmintator, Pewter silver, ac, monsoon cd player, power everything.

The only "build number" you have on a non-WS6 / non-WU6 (Firehawk) T/A is the GM sequence number in the VIN (last 6 digits). All cars were serialized by the manufacturer as they started down the assembly line. The "build number" most people refer to though is the additional "conversion number" assigned to a particular car by SLP (for SS: '96-'02, WS6: '96-'97, and Firehawk: '91-'02) and ASC (for WS6 - '98-'02) when they added the parts that made the car what it is.

The only breakdown I've got for '00s is:

2000 total: 31826
Firebird 13529 coupe; 1149 vert; 14678 total
Formula 1302 coupe; 233 WS6 coupe; 1535 total
Trans Am 6639 coupe; 783 vert; 7166 WS6 coupe; 1025 WS6 vert; 15613 total

Your car is one of the 6639 T/A coupes (non-WS6) built in '00. It's actually more rare than a WS6 that year.

So obviously NOT all models had TCS.

WRT a build sheet for your car, the driver's door decal contains all the RPOs installed on your car. PHS may be able to provide a copy of your window sticker, but I heard they are no longer providing that service. As a last resort, take your VIN# to a dealership and have them run it through their computer to get a printout of all the RPOs for your car. That's about as good as you're going to get.

I have a black 93 Formula M6 (1 of 756) hardtop with leather and the high (GT?) rear spoiler. Low production number car, but not rare - values to low
