| Baselined the G8 at the track today. I got my G8 to the track today. Approximately 750 miles on it when I got there. Very nice day, around 50 degrees, little wind. I made 3 passes which looked like this:
1: I decided to leave it in D for the first pass. I did a very brief spin of the tires to clean them and lined it up. I stalled it to about 900 rpm and hit it on the last yellow.
60'......2.17
330'....5.83
1/8.....8.88
mph....81.38
1000'..11.49
1/4.....13.68
mph....102.15
The car seemed to be shifting into 4th as I was crossing the finish (stock shifts are lazy).
2: I started in sport shift mode and tried the 3rd gear trick. Same on the burnout as the first pass. I left off idle. When I hit the gas it felt like it spun a little and the pass looked like this.
60'......2.13
330'....5.84
1/8.....8.92
mph....80.79
1000'..11.54
1/4.....13.74
mph....102.68
The car stayed in 3rd when I requested it to shift back to second (the trick to keep it from shifting to 4th as it crosses the finish). It stayed in 3rd and my mph picked up slightly, but my ET was a tiny bit off.
Last run I did a 2 second burnout and staged. I used the 3rd gear trick like on the second pass. I left off idle and it seemed like it spun more this time.
60'......2.04
330'....5.72
1/8.....8.76
mph....81.88
1000'..11.35
1/4.....13.529
mph....102.92
I weighed the car after the last run and it was 3990 lbs without me and the race weight was 4180lbs.
Overall I was very impressed with the car. Very fun day and I can honestly say that the car is a mid 13 second car. It might be a while before the mods start, but now I have a baseline to work off of.

| Great times for a stock 4 door car, I'm leaning more and more towards the G8 as my next daily driver.

| Not bad at all.
Get a tune and an intake on that bad boy and you will easily see low 13's.

| Nice runs man, 13.5 is damn quick for a stocker. And with only 700 miles on it you can expect it to get better as she breaks in. Did you go to Englishtown?

| I ran at Lebanon Valley. I would probably have hit a 13.4 or maybe even a 13.3 at Englishtown or Atco, but it's alot farther and the drive home usually sucks, lol.

| So a stock G8 GT will run around a 13.20 @ sea level down here in Florida on a cool night ?I'm going to have to find a place that rents them and try it @ the local track when it reopens on Nov.8 all brand new. |

Atco is one of the fastest tracks in the country, if not the fastest I've seen, and I would guess ScreaminRedZ would have hit a 13.3-13.4 at Atco on this cold day we hit up LVD. His car is bone stock, straight off the showroom floor. The 13.4 would have happened, 13.3 definitely possible, 13.2 unlikely but I guess not impossible.
Then again we didn't go there, we went to LVD, so the 13.52 is what's currently on the best timeslip. Definitely post up your results if you do get one to the track.

| I was told the lower you go in elevation the lower you times are the higher you go in elevation the higher your times are.So if that is true then its good for a few tenths. |

Density Altitude. or DA
Thats calculated based on the actual eleivation, air temp and humidity, its a guage to tell how good the air quality is.
Atco is know for having the best in the north east and also the track prep is pretty darn good. Followed closly by E-town and then from there LVD is dead last in the DA dept. At best before LVD will show down for this year, we hit a best of -85 last Saturday. Most times in the fall its between 100-400. The actual elevation I think is 600ish feet.
Atco is at or just below see level. A Major advantage.
Ron's G8 will post a big # at Atco, id bet that anyday a week. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Density_altitude (good example) http://www.pilotfriend.com/calcs/cal...rs/density.htm (example of a calculator)

| Thanks!
99WS7, I'd just go for the V8. It's only like $2000 more and only gets 1 mpg less on the highway.
Link added for video.

| I'll probably wait until after next season. I want to start now, but I have things I want to do to my other cars and it makes sense to start with the cars that don't have a warrantee.

Was that a mistype about the 6 cyl? I would expect my wife to possibly leave me if I brought her home a 6cyl G8.
Actually, maybe not but she would schedule me a doctor's appointment atleast.
