Rented a 2008 G8 GT and took it to the track. 60 deg. 2.0 60 ft times and a best of 14.0@101.5. The June 2008 Road&Track ran the GT 0-60 in 5.0 and 13.5@104.9. I did exactly what they said Disable ESP, engage sport shift mode, preload the driveline to 1100rpm. What was up with this rental? Car came off the line nice with very little wheelspin, but would not get into the 13s or go faster than 101. My 2005 Grand Prix GXP ran 13.9@101.5 1.8 60ft last time up to the track this year.

I'm more interested in that combination? how could you run a 1.8X 60' and only a 13.9 @101? i went 13.6 @102.5 w/a 2.01 60' in my stock 1100mi (not broken in yet) GP GXP??

well you ran about 3 tenths slower than a few of us did in our Stock GP GXPs mine was a 2005 also ran 13.6@102 and this was around 700 DA.

no car is the exact same. and weather including Temperatures and humidity play a huge role. and elevation.

There are a few of us that have run mid 13's. I did it with a basically stock g8 except for cai. A couple have done it with bone stock g8s. My first time out the best I could run was 13.80s. Then went back to my stock wheels and tires plus cooler temps and ran 13.57 hitting the rev limiter for about the last 150 feet of the 1/4. I do have a cheap set of mufflers, but, none of the dyno runs have shown that mufflers have helped in any way. My car only dynoed at 295 at the rear wheels. Lots of g8s have dynoed in the low 300 hp and still haven't run as fast as my car and other g8s. So, who knows what causes some to run faster then others. One guy at atco ran 13.39 with a bone stock g8 with 230 miles. Beats me, some just run better then others.

all the tracks are different...the biggest difference maker, and the reason you couldn't run under a 13.xx, is the tuning...the rental probly didn't have the shift updates from the dealer let alone a real tune on it. the TQM on these g8's is set to well over 20* of timing and should be in the single digits to snap shifts off. come to atco this sunday and see what my tuned g8 does.

Front drive street tires stock gears (4 spd auto) and bolt ons with no tune. I think a 13.9@101 is respectable with less than 300 hp at the wheels and 3760lbs. with me in the car.
