Default G8 v8 question

i am looking for a engine for my truck and a buddy of mine said he found a v8 from a 08 pontiac G8, i was wondering if these engines were the same specs as say a ls1 and what not. because i know ls1, ls2, lq9, so on and so forth will fit in a silverado no problem, just not sure about this G8 engine. thanks fellas

It's an L76. Basically a detuned LS2. Same bore and stroke with some differences like active fuel management, variable cam phasing, and detuned to utilize 87 octane.

its more potent than the LS2 cause you have the L92 head stock on it!!! Flows over 300cfm stock!!Mod potential is crazy..

Yes, it's a very builable motor and even removing the DOD you can still retain decent mileage. I'm at 22-24 HW and 18 city. Not bad for over 400HP at the wheels.

It's an LS2 block (same size externally as LS1) and LS1 accessories will bolt on. It does not have variable cam phasing. It has a small .480" lift cam with a special AFM lobe set-up, 8 DOD lifters and 8 normal lifters. L92 heads,LS3 90mm intake, LS7 injectors, 90mm electronic throttle body.
It runs the same crank balancer as LS2 Corvette with corvette belt spacing away from the block.

Crank reluctor wheel is 58x (LS1 is 24x), Cam gear is 4x (LS1 is 1x).

To run it off an LS1 computer you'd need to drop the crank out to change the reluctor wheel to 24x, pull the cam (its a single bolt core) replace with a 3 bolt core so the new 1x cam gear will fit.
You'd also need to pull the heads to remove the DOD lifters.
Fit an LS2 valley cover to remove L76 DOD solenoids and blank off.

You'd need...Cam sensor harness extension, knock sensor extension harness, MAP sensor adapter harness, injector adaptor harnesses. 90mm cable TB...or an adapter harness if your truck runs 75mm ETB to suit 90mm ETB.

You'd be looking at about $2k in parts to make it suit an LS1 application.
