Question So my girl is looking at this 05' GTO.....

So my girl found this 05' GTO that is $4000 under bluebook (so she researched) on Craigslist. Anyway she goes to a used dealer to try to find one and the guy says "oh we dont even mess with those, due to all the electrical problems". Any truth to this at all??? thanks guys I love the GTO, i would love for her to get one.

Absolute B.S....electrical issues are not an issue for GTO's take it from some of us who own one. Guy is talking out of his ass....that is one used dealer to stay away from.

Your girl will LOVE it...comfort and speed all in one package and best of all, you don't see them every 5 minutes (sorry for dig at the F-body guys).

The only electrical problems I've had are with an 04. It's the steering wheel stereo controls. They have a mind of their own somedays they work other they just do completely different functions. I think this was just an 04 issue and really not a big one at that.

My BCM went out once making the lights stay on well after they should have shut off automatically.

Ignition cylinders lock....thats about it honestly aside from all the other GTO quirks.

My 04 doesn't seem to have any electrical problems... they are fairly solid cars.

The one thing that i can caution about that, is be prepared to drop a few hundred dollars into the suspension as soon as you get it to prevent tire wear issues.

The fronts tires wear out prematurely because the factory radius rod bushings allow for too much play, and the rear tires wear our prematurely because the factory rear springs are too weak and sag over time. Those were the first two mods i had to do to my car, along with 2 new tires.

50k miles deep and not a single electrical problem.

Only problem I had was ignition cylinder fucking up. Easy fix though.

Sounds like he doesnt have one to sell you (but he'd be more than happy to sell you something on his lot!)

Early 04's had an electrical issue that was fixed. Like somebody already said, he is just talking from his ass to sell you something he has on his lot. Use somebody else.

Just as some of these guys have said, the only problems I know of were on some '04's. I have a friend with one, he'll be sitting in the car for lunch and the horn will just randomly beep real quick lol
