Default Buy a 04 auto with a maggie or 06 stock with a stick

What would you buy a 04 auto with a maggie or a stock 06 with a stick?

buy whichever is in the best shape for the dollar. make sure the tranny and rear end are'nt about to take a sliding shit on the 04. also plan to drop around 500 in suspention parts to get them to ride like they are supposed to in the 04 atleast.

04 wouldnt pay more than 15,500
06 maybe 17,000 if they are in GREAT shape.

well 04 is ls1 05+ are ls2. 05+ has a power lock switch in the consol to where the 04's were just power locks, but you had to maually pull the drivers side lock up or down to control the passengers side. nothing i can think of other than that i guess.

oh check the strut rub issues if the car has the optional 18's.

ls1gto.com is the site you really need. a TON of great info over there.

I would get the 04. The red for 2004 was one of the rarest colors made, and it's already got a $6k maggie on it and pedders suspension. I'd trade my 05 in on that one right now.
The diffs are all the same from 04-06 and there are only like 2 vendors in the US that sell gears for them.

the 17" rims were the strut rub issues, not common with the 18's

only the 2006 cars got the lock button in the center console, this can be purchased from jhp for the 04-05 cars, and is an easy install.

I have an 05 and do not have a power lock switch. It locks and unlocks the doors using Park. The 06s have the button. Strub issue is a 17 inch problem, not 18s. Yea, a TON of great info you obviously need to read...

OP:

How much is the maggied 04? Are you looking to modify the GTO once you get it? How much are the 6 speeds?

Goals?

If it has a full pedders suspension, installed and tuned at a refutable shop, I would get the 04.

I'd go for the 04....you might have to upgrade the suspension to better stuff later on depending on what pedders' package was used.

I have an 04 and its been one of the best cars ever

To who said the red is uncommon....its not, unless it was the W40 pulse red package.

If its the W40 Package then its rare... PULSE RED FTW!!!!!.... IMO I would go with the 04 Maggie.... I have a M6 04 with mods in sig, My guy has a 06 A4 with same mods... And I pull him by a car and a half all the time... So performance wise they are generally the same... Bone stock I ran a 13.2, But its up to you in the end....

I should have been more specific.....
Pulse Red = Rare
Torrid Red = As rare as opinions and assholes...everyone has one

Not just because I've owned two 04's but go with the 04. A 04 with a maggie, who cares if it's an auto. At the end of the day it would still be more fun than a stock 06.

I would go with the 04 hands down. I always love how people ask if it has the 6.0 and I say nope the slow 5.7, wanna run? If you plan on going to the track at all then the Maggie Auto will be much more fun and will get consistant track times. If you are leaning towards the 05/06 due to appearance mods just remember you save over 6k by already having the power and you can always find bumpers and hoods.

if it was the other way around, i'd get the '04 but having a maggie it has probably had a harder life. besides the stick being more fun a stock car is more of a cream puff
