That little car is QUICK!!! The numbers were very impressive! Many automotive magazines (C & D, R & T) love it except for the non-power top. Small sacrifice to make unless caught in the rain unexpectedly.

I know the Saturn Sky is cheaper, because the way the Saturn dealers work, no haggling and stuff.

I know the dealers here are tryin to sell the regular Soltice for like 30k, when they are supposed to be 20K MSRP, but since the demand is so high, I guess that changes the rules.

But yea the GXP Soltice have the Ecotech engine, its pretty cool, has direct injection, turbo, all the goodies that come with that.

Actually the base Sky is about as much as a loaded Solstice about $26k, but has all the options on it already, this is the non-turboed versions. The GXP and Redline versions are pretty damn quick. I can't wait for a hard top version to come out like the one in the new Transformers movie coming out.

yesss they will be making both the solstice and sky turbo...2.0turbo 260hp 260 tq.
but the automatics will be quicker, due to the converter being used. It holds a load on the motor, eliminating turbo lag between shifts...crappy but true ...tested on a article i saw from car and driver....

Always been curious why they don't do 2.2 Turbo like Saab gets.

Quote:
For those who lust after power, for the ultimate in life experiences, Solstice GXP has arrived.

Its 2.0L Turbo ECOTEC DOHC spools out 260hp and 260lb-ft of torque to produce a sub-5.5 zero-to-60--quicker than a Porsche Boxter. Conversely, it's 31 mpg makes it the most fuel-efficient roadster on the highway. GXP also adds four-wheel ABS, sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip differential, W-speed rated performance tires and StabiliTrak--one of the world's most advanced vehicle stability enhancement systems--with traction control and "competitive mode."

Even GXP's distictive exterior features are oriented toward extreme performance. The front fascia houses cooling vents designed to guide air past the front brakes, helpful when negotiating a race circuit. Mounted in the rear fascia are high-polished dual exhaust outlets, source of the turbo's pleasingly throaty growl. Special GXP exterior and interior badging complete this very dramatic picture.

Solstice GXP and Sky Red Line both have the Turbo 2.0 260hp/260tq.
Both are already on sale.

With a few easy and cheap mods, these things will hit 300whp easy.

We are working on turbo upgrades for them already. Look for 400-500rwhp GXP's and Sky's to hit the streets soon

I dont know if any of you noticed but the original question asked was "are they making a solstice COUPE gxp" and no one has posted on the topic of it being a coupe. I read on GM insider news that theres a possibility of it being in the works but not until the sales of the current solstice slow down.

This is the roof used on the Solstice race cars, so I'd lean more towards seeing this one on a production model.

The other one would be nicer with fewer blind spots, but I agree it's not as intimidating

Smoke signals has featured a few of the removable hardtop racers in the last few issues. One was a young kid racing SCCA and the other was Millen's drift car. The removable hardtop must be direct from Pontiac to the race teams though- it doesn't show as an option online. They were popular on the Miatas though- it would only make sense GM would offer a version to the public at some point.

I wish GM would reconsider the Nomad concept as well.

The GXP motor is smaller, has a turbo, direct injection and vvt. Nice piece of technology! I only wish GM would have went with the 6 speed. Also the belt-alternator starter in the Saturn Vue-Greenline should bolt up which improve mileage even more if they wanted to slap it on the Solstice.

no coupe yet and skys are actually selling for more than the solstice. check ebay. solstice gxp's are around $32,000 buy it now while the sky is around $36,000. i want one but for the money you can buy a whole lot more car speaking from a daily driver perspective and i would quickly turn this into the 2nd car that sits in the garage until sunday and then id be looking yet againb for a daily driver. lol
