Default The future of Pontiac comes to Chicago...

It's all but confirmed that the Holden Commodore will be imported as a Pontiac G8 (Grand Prix replacement) in numbers as high as 50,000 per year.

Starting with this car, Pontiac begins to move in a new direction.
And what direction is that?
Well we don't know too many details yet, but all signs are pointing to a more performance-oriented lineup with all RWD vehicles.

Bob Lutz says:
“Come to the Chicago Auto Show and all will be revealed.”

Only a month away!

Yep, I'm going to NAIAS. Third year in a row for me.
I kind of was disappointed with the overall GM display last year (with exception to the Camaro Concept), so it'll be nice to see something a little better.

Give the cars a better name. Those names suck. Bring back the Bonneville and dont cut the Grand Prix name.

I can do without the Pontiac grill. No use taking the lines of the car as it is designed (as a Holden) and slapping on a poorly thought out front clip.

I like the signiture split front grill, but I dont like the recent look maybe a more recessed look with it extending to the fenders and with the headlights inside the grill that would look awesome

But I like the thinking behind the new Pontiac. Makes me proud. And who would have thought that all this would have started with a little Miata fighter

I hope the real G8 looks better than that photochop. I think the Charger looks much better and meaner than that pic above.

I understand why GM may want to get rid of old nameplates and come out with new, fresh names BUT I do not agree with it. Everyone is bringing back old names and GM is getting rid of them.

I am glad to hear that GM finally realized that RWD is ok and are bringing it back in full force. What pisses me off is that about 6-7yrs ago they all but condemned it altogether. Everything they were planning to build was going to be FWD because that was the "new way." And look what GM is going back to now?

Just my opinion here, but it seems to me that GM is really good at making poor decisions at the wrong times.

I guess we'll wait and see?

The G? names remind me too much of Infinities & BMWs.....It sucks that we have to copy their naming ideas just to compete. There's just no personality to them. The car names might as well be 1,2 & 3.

i love those wheels do they come on the stock holden? i love them even though they look like a prowlers as well as the new 350z's rims but i love them. If they make that car i will freak out but im not getting all worked up over something that may not happen. If they make this car, terrific. If they make a new trans am, great. if they make a new fiero, awesome. But till then im not fooling myself. Ill tell you one thing itd be a toss between this and a new trans am for me

True, but look at the success that the GTO brought and compare it to the marketwide shortage due to demand
