| Codename: Ultra. GM's new DOHC V8 ETA 2009 Quote:
GM TONAWANDA TO GET NEW V-8
General Motors Corp. is investing another $300 million in its Tonawanda engine plant in preparation for an all-new DOHC V-8 engine due to launch in 2009.
The expenditure, which goes toward new tooling and equipment and other upgrades, brings GM’s investment in the New York complex to $1.5 billion over the past 10 years. Renovations begin in the fall.
GM already is touting the new engine as one of its most technically advanced powerplants. It’s aiming for near best-inclass power and smoothness, while delivering better fuel efficiency and lower emissions than its current V-8 offerings.
Since it opened in 1938, the Tonawanda plant has produced nearly 67 million engines. It currently makes GM’s 2.2-liter 4-cylinder Ecotec, 3.5- and 3.9- liter “High-Value” V-6s, four and five-cylinder inline engines and the 8.1-liter Vortec V-8.
| Well thar yar, a non-Northstar DOHC afterall!

| Its pretty hush-hush still. I doubt we'll have numbers anytime soon. But if it's here to replace the 6.0, then it'll have to be 350-400+
On the other forum, in the picture, the one guy pointed out in the middle of the motor is some centrifugal ... thing... that's turned by the cam chain. Anyone have an idea?
