Trans-am was around before they made the car by that name. Funny how it was never leagal to run in trans-am racing, once it was produced huh?

What I meant was that is where it got its name, long before the movie.
Plus, it would have been a pretty lame car with a Pontiac 301 to meet the 5 liter rule. Although the short stroke Chevy 302 was a hot little motor.

Pontiac ran 2 T/A's in 1970. I have footage..The other day on AMER.MUSCLECAR......halfway through the 30 minute show.....also I saw a book on TRANS-AM and they showed white t/a's.['70]
