No New GTO?

I was at the national Pontiac club convention in Tulsa last week. Some of us were talking to a guy who is very well connected with the higher ups at Pontiac and GM. His comment on a new GTO was that it was being discussed, but with the new CAFE standards in the works, he doesn't think that it's going to happen. He said that GM is planning an initial run of 100,000 Camaros. If they don't sell as planned, in a year or so, they'll slap a split grille on it and bring out a Firebird.

My bet has been and is that we'll see a Firebird ...

yea i saw a video somewhere of someone from pontiac saying after 2007 the gtos will no longer be made for some reason he blabbered on for a while but i was like wtf i love the new gtos

The GTO will be out in 2010 or 2011 I believe. Pontiac will get a RWD 2-door V8 sports coupe.

Oh no. I'm so disappointed. No new GTO. Maybe now Pontiac can get a real car back in the line-up. I love GTO's, but not the most recent body style ones. They look like DD's, and they disgrace the Pontiacs long since past. We need something kick ass, and we need it now.
