Default Pontiac G6 GXP

Yes yes, i know, similar threads but im interested in knowing if the G6 GXP will ever get the Direct Injection V6 rather than its regular 3.6? Also if the manual's ever gonna come back to the model. I went to a Pontiac dealer and test drove one, while i feel the car is ALRIGHT, it sure could use more HP to kinda validate its near G8 price tag. The DI Turbo would be cool too.

I doubt it will since even the G8 V6 doesn't get the DI version. Would be nice though. Who knows about the manual though they only offered that during the short time they used the 3.9.

Yeah i also remember reading somewhere that the G6 GXP show car came with a 270Hp 3.9 with a stick. Bummer, i kinda think the G6GXP kinda reminds me of a little Firebird or a super cool Grand Am.

When the Camaro comes out, use that 300hp V6

I haved heard the G8 is coming out with ther DI V6.

Also--the Lambadas--Acadia, Outlook, Traverse are using the FWD DI V6 for 09.

Just a matter of time before Epsilon cars (Aura, Malibu and G6) get the 3.6L DI V6

If the G6 GXP did get the DI V6 used in the Camaro V6, it could take the world by surprise as the Cobalt SS Turbo did. (Check out the latest MotorTred to see the Cobalt TC beat the EVO, and spank an WRX STI) With the G6 Coupe's sexy body, DI V6, and a better suspension, it would rock anything short of a M3

I agree, the G6 GXP is one sweet machine! I thought they weren't going to produce the sweet concept style and Grand AM Series style, but it appears they did. There's a few DI motors if you check out GM's database of engines/transmissions.

well the HP currently for the FWD DI V6 is 281/288 (single/dual exhaust) that would be plenty.

Alhough I must confess--that current G6 GXP is butt ugly (and buck toothed)

I am sure you know that was on a road course....the Epsilon cars would neeed a major suspension package to pull some great numbers...just by adding the DI V6 would not be enough to catapule a mainstream FWD car into heroic weekend warrior

I know, I've driven on. Wasn't overly impressed with the handling, either, get rid of the buck tooth grill and the hammer spoiler, and it'd be a bad ass

That ugly ass spoiler isn't even standard. Alot of people seem to think the GXP automatically gets that stuff. That's only part of the street package that you can get on the GXP. I don't know why anyone would even want it it's not even remotely good looking. I'd be surprised if it got the DI V6 though. And it would need alot more than 30 more hp to compete with anything up to an M3 that's just a stupid statement. Plenty of cars that would still be leaps and bounds ahead of it.

It wasn't stupid. If the Nurburgring tuned Cobalt SS Turbo beat out an Evo, 135i, IS-F, and a S2000 CR, then with a DI V6 G6 (with a 50 HP gain btw) could show up anything short of an M3.

BMWs are great cars, but they aren't invincible
