| What was your worst pass ever at the track? Everyone always talks about their best pass or what their car will do at
the track on average. Let's turn it around a bit. Post your worst pass ever! Everyone has blown some runs here and there for
whatever reason. Breakage doesn't count though. Here's my worst
pass and the story along with it...
It was a relatively cold day on October 20th 2007, somewhere in the
high 40's if I recall correctly. There was zero track prep since the
season was winding down. Needless to say, traction wasn't going to
happen. I lined up against a ricer ( ) and I smoked the tires of course
to a 1.88 60 foot. I pedaled it a few times and the rear end kicked out
pretty badly so I compensated and tried to straighten it out while
continuing to pedal it and short shift looking for traction. The run was a
complete debacle so I let out and coasted through the traps. I was
pissed off since I waited for 2 hours to make that pass.
Here's a (horrible) pic of the time slip. Sorry for the poor quality.
Here are the incrementals for this pathetic pass that you can actually
read. Me------ vs.---------- Ricer
1.88 ---- 60' ----------2.48
5.12 ---- 330' ---------6.95
8.10 ---- 1/8 ET ------10.68
73.63 ---- 1/8 MPH -- -66.54
11.23 ---- 1000' ET ----13.83
72.55 ---- 1000' MPH --77.88
14.33 ---- 1/4 ET ------16.50 3.68 ---- 1/4 MPH ----83.01
1st Finish <---- 2.34
I find it pretty damned funny that I ran a 14.30 @ 3mph...and I still beat
the ricer by 2.3 seconds!

| Last year it was pretty cold out, and the strip was packed. I waited in line for 2-3 hours to make this one pass. Track prep was horrible. I spun all the way to first, and got kind of crooked, short shifted into 2nd, and ended up spinning alot in 2nd as well. It was a smoke show. I ran a 15 at like 70 mph.

| Last december I spun to about the 1/8th mile and ran a 16 something. At the time I was pissed but then laughed about it as soon as I saw the time slip. |

| I've never had traction issues. My slowest time is 17.1@80.23. 2.4 60'. Stock automatic Saturn S-Series. After some bolt-ons and fuel tuning, I got down to a 16.2@85.89. Still 2.4 60', still automatic. Haven't had a chance to take it to the track with the manual, though. Clutch is fucked up, though so I probably won't be taking it to the track any time soon, either. |

| My worst run was the first time I had been to the strip. I decided that since the track was sticky, the best way to launch the car would be just to stand on the gas(auto LS1). Spun all the way through first, had a 2.8 60 ft, lol, ran a 14.4 or something stupid. It was cold that day and the track prep was horrible, plus I had some crappy tires as well.

My apologies. | |

| My worst pass came with me lined up against a 99-02 GT(this was in late 2001/early 2002..dont' remember the exact date. My car at the time was stock. I was starting to run high 13s @ 104mph and getting my shifts down. My 2nd time at the track with the TA.
Anyways, I get a 2.x 60' time and was winding out 1st. Nail 2nd...run through that gear. I go to hit third and somehow wind up in 5th(sucky shift with the stock shifter + me looking back to find the mustang). I ended up running a 14.5 around 95mph and I still beat the mustang by 2 tenths. I heard about it when I got back to the pits from my friends there going wtf over? |

| I have an auto and on this run I left my right hand on the shifter out of habit. When I launched the car, it threw my body back (including my hand) knocking the shifter into 1st gear, which f-ed up the run and kicked the rear end out. I tried to get back into it by putting it back in 3rd and feathering the gas pedal. I did finish the run, but realized I shredded the serpentine belt as a result of the over rev. Clearly my worst run ever.
