Default Its going to cost HOW MUCH?!?!?

Well heres the initial thread w/background
Is my frame Bent?

The Body shop said the estimated cost to repair it is going to be around $7,255.

I honestly don't know what to type because I'm so flabbergasted. I lol'd in my head when I heard the price because i thought "Jesus Christ W.T.F did I DO...for almost 8 GRAND? I just hit a frickin curb" bu it is what it is.

I have F.C with State Farm so Ive got to see what they're going to do with it. 7 grand is about 1/2 of the retail value on it so I don't know if they're going to total it or what

Just thought I'd Share.

State Farm pays by NADA, so I doubt they total it. They will have you take it to one of their approved body shops for an estimate too. I'd take the check for the estimate, fix what you can yourself, and pay a shop to do the rest. I'm sure you can swap a rear end, wheels, etc.

They don't go by retail value FYI. They go by ACV (actual cash value) which is not very close to retail. It may be pretty close to a total.

That is why most cars with frame damage are declared TOTALED.

I was told directly by the claims adjuster that they do in fact pay retail.

I went into the shop today and they had it on the lift and gave me a total walk-around/explanation

2 New Tires/ Toyo Proxes(They were in the shop ready to go on)

2 New 17 inch Rims(In shop ready to go on)

WHOLE NEW REAR.(Axle, rear end, brake assembleys, etc) (Already on car)

New Front Axle(In the shop ready to go on) (It looked BRAND new too)

Front Suspension

Repair Dented/Scratched Quarter Panel(Had it sanded, etc ready to be painted)

Repair Dented/Scratched Passenger side door.(same as quarter panel)

Remove and repaint entire front bumper(Had it off the car being prepped for paint)

Replace Side Fairing(Being ordered)

I didnt get to see the severity of the hit until today in the light of the shop and when it was on the stands. I think the rear end setup is where the biggest chunk of change comes from.

Im just really glad they're fixing up my Ws6.I damn near cried seeing it get hauled away on the tow truck, and felt so much better seeing it get worked on today.

Didn't know Fbodies had front axles. Do you mean steering rack?

You should have asked them how much a 10 bolt would have cost them and if it was close to the same price for a 12 bolt/9inch/Dana 60, I would have had them get one of those and pay the difference if any.

Hope you enjoy the car after they are finished. Make sure you go over it with a fine tooth comb and I hope you have better luck then I did 10 years back with the body shop.

No not that, I know theres a proper technichal term for it(I'm unsure of what it is), but the assembly that you attach the wheel/lug's to.

And as soon as it comes out of the shop doors its going into storage until May 09'

She's been through a lot this year and needs some rest/beauty sleep.

Well I am a claim adjuster and I know my company or any other company I know of does not pay retail. State farm may be different, but I HIGHLY doubt it.

Wow, I should have ran my Camaro into the curb when I needed a new 10 bolt. That alone costs at least two grand plus labor.
