| Not a smart move...Big 3 execs fly into DC in private jets. WTF are you dumb shits thinking? No wonder your companies have gone in the shitter. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/WallSt...6285739&page=1 All three CEOs - Rick Wagoner of GM, Alan Mulally of Ford, and Robert Nardelli of Chrysler - exercised their perks Tuesday by flying in corporate jets to DC. Wagoner flew in GM's $36 million luxury aircraft to tell members of Congress that the company is burning through cash, asking for $10-12 billion for GM alone.
Wagoner's private jet trip to Washington cost his ailing company an estimated $20,000 roundtrip. In comparison, seats on Northwest Airlines flight 2364 from Detroit to Washington were going online for $288 coach and $837 first class.
After the hearing, Wagoner declined to answer questions about his travel.

| Obvious. I was thinking about this yesterday. The companies could probably get back on their feet if the big wigs at the top would take a pay cut for awhile. But, no way, they won't do that at all. Come on, $20,000 for a trip you could spend $288 on. I really don't want the government giving these greedy people our money. |

| they will get the money. They should have never given the $700billion to the banks either. Alot of circle jerking happened with that. why don't they take a $100 billion from the Bank bailout and then give it tho the auto. The banks did it to themselves too. They gave out loans to high risk people with no downpayments and sh*t so they are NO BETTER than the auto industry with their crap

| It makes perfect sense for them to fly on a private jet.
With the kinds of salaries and bonuses these guys make, it would be wasteful to have them spend the extra time to fly commercial. $20k just isn't that much compared to the value of several hours of these guys' time.
(of course the obvious retort is why do CEOs make tens of millions a year.....)
Who gives a fuck about $25B though? This is getting more heat and scrutiny than the $700B ever did. At least if you bail out the Big 3, you're gonna save greedy corporate bastards AND blue collar workers. Probably won't pass though...too much of a socialist idea to help a broad sector of Americans...better to enrich the more wealthy to keep things "capitalist" and all.

| Yeah, so we pay for the big 3 and the UAW takes no cuts at all. Still make 25$/hr putting a bolt in a hole all day long. The union already rejected any cuts so they can be the cause of their demise because they sure arent part of the solution.
They will get their $$ though I am sure. It wont help though just like it didnt do shit for the banking industry.

| It just pisses me off that they will get bailed out, and all the unionized greedy bastards on the line will go back to getting severely over-paid for a job that most 4 year olds have already learned. (i.e. that little wood peg board that you use a little hammer to pound the correct shaped shape through a hole) Then on top of that, they expect us to buy their over-priced vehicles.
Take a pay cut, be happy to be working. Of course they make almost as much sitting at home on unemployment.

| I wouldn't mind seeing the gov't bail out the big three with a few exceptions.
1. disband the unions, let the guys and girls who want to work for themselves do so.
2. thats all I got.
3. maybe hand out vaseline when selling the vehicles for 20,000 more than it really costs to make a decent profit.

| UNION had its time back in the days when it was needed, but now they need to go away since wages a fair now. Paying someone $25 and hr to do the same mindless job day in and day out is stupid, might aswell pay cotton pickers and produce pickers $25 and hr, those poor fellows dont even get to work in air conditioned enviroments like those UAW workers. |

I sense envy here.
Socialism is stupid government handouts to mostly undeserving losers paid for by money taken from the hard workers and feeds off of jealousy and class warfare, lining the pockets of greedy politicians in the process. In a nutshell.
And don't you go labeling me as some rich kid who doesn't care. I'm not even close to being rich.

| Here's how I think this should work,
1. absolutely no BAIL OUT
2. file chapter 11, total reorganizing.
3. Federal Judge that oversees the bankruptcy voids all Union contracts (and yes they can do that)
4. All of the management that went to DC in those jets are fired! No severence pay!
5. No union, PERIOD!
6. All hourly employees now must contribute to their medical, etc just like the rest of us have to . Don't like it? too bad!
7. Go private!
8.allow the GM brands from Europe into the USA. Screw you EPA! They have cars that already get better MPG. and are better built, I know because I've driven some of them
9. Stockholders! won't need them because GM will be a privately held company!
10. Lean and mean before toyota kicks your ass to the curb, forever! Get rid of Buick
I'm probably forgetting something because I'm royally pissed at the Car companies and the unions for letting this happen!
Three problems in this country are Corporate greed, Union greed and the goverment. Period! sorry for the rant!

That was hush money to the banks since they (the government) was the reason why the bad loans came about. |
