A nice family fued right before the holidays......
So - anyone had this happen to them?
My dad and his brothers are ALL upset at each other over $$$$$. It's so frustrating how impossible it seems like it is to get them to pick up the phone and TALK to each other. So far it's just been email stuff, and I've been yelling at all three of them to just TALK it out. Tonight I sent an email to my uncle telling him this is the last email I'm going to talk about this in.
Don't force it. I still don't understand why everyone thinks that just because you're related you have to get along. I consider the people I love my family, regardless of relation.

My dads family is all pissed at each other over a land deal. They all own a piece of some land that their dad owned, some want to sell some dont. Ones that dont are buying it from the ones that want to sell. Ones that are selling thinks the ones buying are trying to rip each other off. Its a huge fricking mess.
Knew two brothers that hadn't talked to eachother in almost 25 years. One sold some land that they both had rights to. He apparently had some issues with alcoholism and gambling.
I’m dating a girl whose family came over from Vietnam when America pulled out. Basically the girl’s dad had served with an American Marine unit as a translator, so he either had to leave or he would have been killed when the Communists took over in the South.
So I’m sitting there at Thanksgiving two years ago, nice peaceful dinner, we’re talking about football and suddenly my grandfather blurts out “I don’t appreciate you bringing a fucking slant eye home after they tried to kill me in Korea.”
I’ve never come so close to beating the crap out of a 77 year old man in my life. Luckily Gramps went senile about 17 months ago and the dementia made him forgot he was a racist old fuck.
my family would fight every holiday no matter what, didn't matter if it was christmas, easter, thanksgiving... but that will change now that I'm going to see different family lol...

This is kind of what's going on here. However the reason they are mad is because two of the three brothers didn't know what was going on. Guess which brother is my dad? The one that knew. Why? Because their MOTHER did not want the other two to know about it!

I think the moral to these stories is rather than split up your land amongst kids, put it in your will for the executor of your estate to sell it and then split the price amongst the kids.
You're better off with the kids pissed at their dead parents for selling the land than you are with a family split up over the land.
