Anybody test drive both? I would love to hear about how they both drive and feel..
I have.
Performance wise the Jeep is way faster from a stand still. I was with the owner of the Jeep while he did a few hard launches and it pushes you back in the seat. I also did a few hard launches in the TBSS. It launches pretty good but near as hard as the Jeep. I think the Jeep accelerates faster too after the launch too. I only took the TBSS up to 80, the Jeep to 100.
The ride is a little harsher in the Jeep, not not very noticeably and both were driven on different roads so it is hard to really compare. The seats in the TBSS are probably very slightly more comfortable but not by much. And I like the fact that the Jeeps seats hold you in place more, kind of what I look for in a sport type vehicle even if its a truck.
The Jeep feels like you sit higher than in the TBSS. This is really a non issue for me. It wouldnt sell me on either one. The interior of the Jeep looks a lot better. But the TBSS only had the basic stereo whereas the Jeep had the Nav. But from what I can see in pictures I think the Jeeps nav and base stereo looks better, specs wise I dont know which is better. Regardless the interior looks a lot better in the Jeep.
Jeeps have a kick ass Blue tooth set up from what I have heard. That would be really nice for talking on the phone while driving. I dont think the TBSSes ever had this option.
Those are the main parts that I can think of right off hand. Both were 2006s, the TBSS was an AWD version.

Thanks man, that basically confirms that I would choose the Jeep over the TBSS... I sat and looked over the Jeep and it's a little boxy looking but does look kinda fat... If it hauls and is comfortable and looks ok what more do you want in a new SUV?
Which ones are easier and less expensive to modify and have the most potential? Maybe the Chevy, no?
i know many people hit mid 12s with them with little to no mods.. i have seen just an intake and tune hit mids. as far as ease and cheapness i dont know..

I test drove both and didn't really understand the point of the SRT-8 Jeep. Why not just get another SRT-8 vehicle? The Jeep is supposed to be a Sport Utility Vehicle yet it really doesn't have the Utility (can't tow, small back seat, and rides rougher than an EVO).The TBSS is a fast SUV the Jeep SRT-8 is more like a fast car thats lifted.
Also, at the time the Jeep was like 15K more than the TBSS and it was smaller, got worse gas mileage, and wasn't that much faster stock for stock. Now, mod for mod is never really a fair comparison but both the vehicles have been out for awile now and the fastest TBSS is running low 9's while the jeeps seem to be stuck in the high 10's so I think speed wise the TBSS seems to have an edge if your gonna be modding it.

the srt is faster.. i consider it an suv... if nothing else because of the appearance... it would still piss off somebody that lines up next to them by getting beat by an SUV..

Yes, stock for stock the SRT-8 is faster. For 10-15K more it sure as shit should be.
It sounds like the Jeep is more of sportscar type SUV that is obviously more expensive in every way, sticker price and modifying... The Chevy though is a bit cheaper new, almost as fast stock for stock, bigger and we all know we can mod that Chevy motor...
It's sounds like pound for pound the TBSS Chevy could be the smarter choice financially... The Jeep seems to look a little better though...WOW, this is realy a tough call????

I really think your wrong on that. You have to remember your getting your info from a mainly GM forum. You have to do a little more research on your own and formulate your own opinion.
Jeep does have stiffer suspension, but I couldnt notice it as a big of a problem as some here say. If you want a nice ride buy an Escalade. I would never buy anything new(change my mind to much) new they really arent that much different. Maybe 3k tops, Im talking the 3SS AWD TBSS and the Jeep. According to Cars.com they are 3k different new in 07. Used I cant find much of a difference either.
Moding wise I think they are very similar with probably the edge going to the Jeep until you get really fast(like 10.50 and below). They make a lot for the Jeeps too.
After all the research I have done plus driving both I think I have made up my mind.
