swap in the LC2 turbo 3.8 from the Grand Nationals.....my little V6 threw down over 650 ft lbs and runs 28 PSI all day long. If it can drag a 3600# Buick to an 11.30 on street tires, just imagine what it would do in a lightened F-body.

Just curious, but how much of a difference is there in the 3.8 V6 in the fbody vs the 3.8 turbo V6 in a Grand National?
Forged bottom end isn't necessary. The stock cranks on the 3800 Series II is known to handle serious power, including cars that have run single digits with big forced induction builds. The stock 3.8 can handle quite a bit of boost, but you're playing with fire. You have to keep an eye on your fueling, and make sure that anything over 5psi is intercooled and even running meth injection or race gas. First sign of detonation on stock pistons will net you a blown motor, and the magically disappearing piston.

The GN 3.8 is way different, older technology, and the newer 3.8 L36 (NA) and L67 (Supercharged) have a few refined points, but there's still some things left for want. There are many things within the architecture between the two motors to prevent any useful hybrids of the two.

Visit www.fullthrottlev6.com if you haven't already. Some of the information the guys here will give you is good, some of it is useless prattle and does not pertain to the 3800 Series II. What works on an LSx motor doesn't always work on another platform, or isn't needed (like a forged bottom end).

Otherwise, here's what I recommend.

Yes, you can have a supercharged or turbo'd V6 Camaro. It has been done, and a few guys have done so with serious results. Considering how little aftermarket support the V6 F-body has, it is pretty impressive.

Once you start going with a boosted motor, you need to figure out what your initial goals are and what you're capable of doing. Make a budget for the parts, labor etc. and then double it. Cause when you start making power, the weak links are going to start showing up and breaking.

You'll need a few basic things on the V6:

Electronics/diagnostics:
HPTuners VCM suite + Wideband (Best way to get the whole setup dialed in)
Other gauge gee-gaws if you want to be showy about it

Fueling:
High volume Fuel Pump
Larger injectors (L67 aka GTP injectors are a start)
Might need a 1:1 Fuel Pressure Regulator, depending...

Motor:
If you're going with just stock motor, nothing over 5psi, then no need
You'll need to re-route the PCV and install a valve cover breather with a catch can. You'll blow out your dipstick if you don't take care of it.

Above 5psi safely:
Forged Pistons & Rings (Stronger pistons hold up to the stress of FI, rings can help cut down on blow by)

Hardcore motor:
P&P'd heads, intake
High effort Camshaft spec'd out for your desired goals
Higher tension valvesprings
Stainless oversized valves
titanium retainers
You can get away with the OEM Lifters, just get some replacements from SDPC.

Forced Induction side:
For a turbo, you'll need to do a few things.
Intercooler (especially over 5psi) Air to Air is simplest, Water to Air is where it's at, but more complicated in some aspects.
Meth injection (only when over 5psi)
Hot side turbo manifolds fabbed
Cold side routing
Oiling routed for turbo(s)

Supercharger:
Check some V6 boards for sponsors, there's one I know that is working on a bracket for a P1SC, otherwise find a kit.
Intercooler (especially over 5psi) Air to Air is simplest, Water to Air is where it's at, but more complicated in some aspects.
Meth injection (only when over 5psi)
Oiling routed for Supercharger if needed. Some are internal.

You can use the supercharger from a GTP car. But it is very involved and gains aren't really great. It's a nightmare as you have to do some serious fabbing and wiring to get everything to fit properly in an F-body.

Transmission:
If you are a manual transmission car, say goodbye as the M5 trans in our cars aren't up to snuff for boost, there's a few gears that just can't handle it even in a built trans.

Auto:
Stall (spec one out for your cam, gearing and something tight that will handle the boost and not flash up beyond what it is rated for)
Trans Cooler
Get it built, personally. Performabuilt is a sponsor here and on a V6 board and their transmissions have held up pretty well.

ZZP has a very nice turbo set up for the 3800 v6. They built my turbo gp. A cam+ turbo on a 3800= pure sex. They sound bad ass with a open dp. Email them and they'll help you out with all your turbo needs! Go on club gp. Lots of v6 turbo info there.

They've got a kit for the W-body, but not the F-body

awww man thanks....I didnt know we were friends! lol jk

anyways, OP...It can be done. Dont listen to these guys telling you to sell your V6 and get a V8. I was in the same exact boat as you. I bought my v6 from a dealership when I was 17 because insurance I simply couldnt afford a V8 since I was paying for the car and insurance on my own. I kept it around for a while and started modding it...then modding fever really hit me and I ended up making 3-4 different designed turbo kits myself with home tools in my driveway while the car sat on jacks until I was happy with my kit. I had a turbonetics T72 on it, pushing 15psi daily on a BONE STOCK motor...upgraded fuel system obviously but the car was boosted for nearly 2 years without a single problem..then finally less then a year ago the turbo itself shit the bed so I parted the car out and have my SS now....I am 22 now and can afford the insurance but honestly, insurance really wasnt that big of a difference...20$ more a month..

anyways, I have lots of pics, videos and details on it. Check out www.fullthrottlev6.com in the F/I section...also, heres my Fquick...

www.fquick.com/kidcamaro98

and heres some pics...

Please do not buy a powerdyne...huge waste....your better off building your own turbo setup. The 3.8l has quite a bit of potential in the motor...they can make some serious power but will take some cash....as stated above check out www.fullthrottlev6.com

There are quite a few pretty dam quick 3.8s out there...this is a V8 site so you wont get much help here other then people telling you to sell it.

Really? Are you talking about Stattama? ZZP never did seem to advertise that they offered F-body kits, but you can have special projects done for the right price...

Force Fed Fabrications offers turbocharging solutions for the F-body and their doors aren't closed. I think they're a sponsor here, not for sure. They're also Texas based, so that'll be better for the OP as he's in El Paso.

Seriously, go to www.fullthrottlev6.com, some of the other boards cater mostly to the W-body and other FWD platforms.
