Default How do you guys feel about stepsides?

I'm looking into a truck and found one with a brand new 305, but it's a step side (looking at 88-97, favorite front end).

I don't really LOVE the step side, but I guess I can deal with it. I'm more considered at the negatives of it. It's a loss of space, but how much? Could I still fit a quad in back (250-400cc).

What do you guys think of them?

Looks good on regular cabs, not so much on extended. Which is the one your looking at?

I love stepsides - but its gotta be a regular cab. A quad should still fit.

I do not care for the stepsides that much. I have a 95 Silverado regular cab shortbed but fleetside as my DD. It has been a great truck. I got to have the tailgate down to haul a quad.

I agree with that body style. But the 88-97 looks strange with a stepside. I'm just not sure. I found a 305 stepside for 2700 and a 350 reg side for 3000. Both new motors.

I think I might just spend the extra 300 on the 350.

IMO the 73-87 stepsides look more odd with a stepside than 88-98 simple because it fits the body better. my buddy had a 92 stepside and he put his 400ex in it all the time, its just a few inches narrower but you dont have to worry about wheelwells.

I think step side is the only way to go if your going to stay with a Reg Cab. a Quad will fit, i've had many in the back of mine. Not the best pictures but heres a picture of mine 1989 and my buddy's 1984, Also I have the 350 in mine and almost 300,000 miles and still running strong these trucks run forever.

I do not like that body style of beds with stepsides. The bed looks too narrow and small.
Stepside= not cool.

Fine for a sport truck. Sucks when you need a truck meant to do what a truck was meant to do......like hauling stuff.

And on a side note, having owned long and short beds....I will never buy another truck without a long bed.

Long beds are way too much for me, I can't stand having a truck that long, lol. I don't really haul much, it'll just be a cheapo daily driver and something to tow around my 68 while I'm working on it.

Heck, go for it. Cars are like Kleenex. Use one, throw it away and another pops up in it's place.

Heh, then my kleenex has been stuck in the box for 3 months. I've been carless

I actually saw a stepside same year, same color as the one I was looking at, at a gas station a few hours ago. I don't love it, but it didn't look as bad as I thought. I may pick it up, just because it's cheap.

I wouldn't buy a truck that needs an engine swap and a bed swap.
