C4 vette turned in as clunker. I think the car is worth 5k as is, why didn't the owner sell it???

I heard, did not see with my own eyes, that a Milwaukee Chevy dealer took in a 68 and a 69 Camaro in trade for cash for clunkers

It's done and we can't do anything about it. Starting a thread and having people bitch about it is not going to bring back the cars.

Well that is simple bullshit, since your car has to be under 25 years old to qualify.

I think that's an 86 as it has the newer TPI and the 87 had diff wheels. 84s had that crossfire mess and I think 85s still had black wheel inlets...
Either way....whatever..buy it from a yard and put a real engine in it anyhow.

Why? I've bought cars out of a junkyard before. They aren't all salvage titled and if they are, its an inspection away.
I've read the cars are supposed to go to yards, so I guess in theory you 'could' find it and grab it.

The worst part about Cash for Clunkers is I really need another car; and I've seen some nice cars under $3k that I would drive.
Why can't I get a hookup from the government and actually use the car.

there was no production 83's due to the inability to pass the crash test. they did release the 84's early tho.
