Good luck man. I cannot believe some of the stupidity in this thread. The guy wasn't street racing, so why the hell should he be prosecuted for street racing. If he was street racing, then I think everyone would tell the OP tough shit.

I have to tell you that I find some of this a bit ridiculous. The OP has told us he street races, that means he doesn't have a problem with breaking the law when it serves him,but now that he's been cited for breaking the law(unjustly according to the OP) he's demanding that the law be held to the highest standard.

I got in an accident a few weeks ago(was my fault). I told the cops I looked at a guy next to me that looked like he was going to switch lanes when I was right next to him. Then I looked back and the cars in front of me were stopped. Pig gave me a ticket for Careless driving. I told him so I was trying not to get hit from the guy to the left of me then get a ticket for this? He said yep you werent paying attention the cars in front of you. I was like I look away for litterly 2 seconds so I dont get sideswiped now your giving me a ticket for that. I guess makes me feel good cops would rather have people with tunnel vision driving down the interstates at rush hour.

I found out I can make payments on the ticket. So I am. Ill let them fuckers wait for their money. And I can use credit card, I just wish I could use my AMEX so they could get charged 5% or whatever they charge.

You must not know the golden rule, if you get pulled over and are guilty STFU.

Why didn't you fight that? A good lawyer could probably get you off.

I tried. I called my lawyer and he thought it would be pretty tough since I did tell the HIPO that I looked away even if I was trying to prevent an accident. Plus if you look up the definition of Careless Driving its pretty hard to fight a careless driving ticket when I did cause an accident.

Quote:
32-24-8. Definition of careless driving--Misdemeanor. Any person who drives any vehicle upon a highway, alley, public park, recreational area, or upon the property of a public or private school, college, or university carelessly and without due caution, at a speed or in a manner so as to endanger any person or property, not amounting to reckless driving as defined in § 32-24-1, is guilty of careless driving. Careless driving is a Class 2 misdemeanor.

Default To the OP

Did you ever admit to racing after they pulled you over? Everytime a cop pulls you over the recorder is rollin. Never admit to anything. Get a lawyer and pay the extra hundred bucks or so.

I used to want to be a cop after I got out of the military but now I am just disgusted by law enforcement around the board and I wasnt excepted for my past over 8 yrs ago prior to serving my country.

Its not about protecting and serving anymore. Its about collecting and funneling money through the courts. Revenue is down so its time for all the bullshit tickets they can write to the working man.

Unfortunately OP, innocent until proven guilty is no more when it come to traffic incidents. The cop said you did it and that is the end of it. I got a ticket for 54 in a 35 because the cop said he never saw my break lights(went from 45 to 35), apparently he has never heard of wind resistance or friction in his life. I had a radar detector at the time and just stopped at a stop sign where the thing went ballistic, I never even came close to the speed limit.
Yes, I read what he said. He also admits to street racing. Did you read the thread?
I'm sorry for the rant O.P. and yes you should have thought about your thread title. If your story is true to what you say, then I hope all goes well for you. However, How many times does anyone on here admit when their wrong. Every forum seems as though its "fuck the cops" or "I got screwed" when they fucked up, not the cops. Cops have a job just like everybody else. There not out to fuck you or take your money. Hell, it aint like they get a cut. I just get tired of cry babies whinning about getting a ticket. I have got several tickets through the years but never did I once post a thread bashing the cops for my stupidity. Sorry if this pisses anyone off but I'll take up for cops till the day I die. And yes I know there are some stupid decisions made by police officers but in todays society, they are few and far between. There is too much technology to see and listen to everything a cop says and does.

some of the ignorance in this thread astounds me. i dont give a flying fuck if the OP has, or does street race, the fact of the matter was, he was not racing THIS TIME. so for everytime you people bashing him have EVER in your lives gone over the speed limit, do you think it would be fair for cops to start writing tickets to you when you are driving at or below the speed limit because, well, you have done it before, so it doesn't matter??

I told them we didnt race and said another cop herd us a radioed it in. The 2nd cops said he saw the other guy and not me take off, but the other cop said the 1st time it was both of us and all it was was him revving up. So now i have to go to tow truck lot and get it out. $100 tow fee and yard storage fee. A friend of mine own the tow truck company so im hoping i don't have to pay anything. Im sure im going to get it dropped in court. It just BS
in a perfect world nobody would lie and you could tell the cop you weren't racing and it was just him and he would believe you..... but in reality even though you are telling the truth it looks like you are lying to cover up getting into trouble

i mean come on, if you put yourself in the cops situation and see 2 sports cars and hears the sound of revving up and taking off the cop has to believe you guys are racing.... wrong place, wrong time...... just try and explain this to the judge and maybe he will believe you, even though 99.9% of everyone the judge talks to everyday lies to him to try and get out of trouble, maybe he might believe you

I would definitely get a lawyer. I have gotten out of 2 "street racing" tickets by simply asking for the proof. You are innocent when you walk into the courtroom, it is the prosecutors job to give the judge indisputable evidence that you are guilty. Just make sure you stay calm & even headed. I asked to see the dash tapes both times & neither time could they show them because they weren't around. Unlike you though, I was racing

Yeah here are the main facts

*The cop that pulled us over said he didn't see me do anything and just saw the other car take off. My radar was going nuts and i saw the cop when the guy took off

*The cop said the reason i was pulled over was another cop that showed up later "herd" us racing not saw us and looked up after it was over and saw the 2 cars and radioed it in to the cop that pulled us over.

*being at the wrong place at the wrong time and having a nice car, I mean hell look at my car it looks like im racing parked!

Why drive a 350hp+ car at all? Im not a streetracer, but some of you self righteous individuals would be better off with a prius.

They need to prove that you were racing.. Clock you on a speed gun or something..I believe you have a good case..

$100 to get your car out of impound is cheap...In Los Angeles, Cali, it would be like $300... Been there done that..Yipes!!!!

A year ago I paid $400 for a running thru a yellow light in Beverly Hills.. It was a total joke and I need to move!!!
