You actually need that when your pulling a heavy load. It re-directs the air up and over so the wind doesn't catch it. Plenty of people have gotten in trouble that way.
It's equipped to pull also. Apparently the max poundage with truck, trailer and load is 27,000 lbs.
Thats a badass truck. I had a '06 chevy 2500 for a work truck once and it was fun and then I drove my bosses 07 dodge 2500 megacab Ram all over the country pullin the companies show car pretty often. I love big trucks but I have no use for one personally, lol.

actually, the engine is all but 1"-2" from being completely out from under the cowl. the 6.6 isn't all that long. just looks like it because it's covered in it's own computers lol. there's actually quite a bit of room between the engine and the firewall too, the DP runs from the intake valley down past the firewall and off to the passenger side of the Allison (or the ZF6 manual on some trucks)
because they knew that would bend him over when he is buying this new truck.
It's not new, it says it's used in the quote you just posted.

The truck was about 65,000 brand new, but it was used with 12,000 miles. So with trade in on the old GMC + TT&L, he wound up financing about 36,000 for this one.
the blacked out exhaust is just so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb from under the truck. the boost and EGT (exhaust gas temperatue) gauges are quite essential in a diesel. if you're EGT's (1800 is WAY too high just so you know, most trucks run around 1000 when towing) get too high, you could possibly melt the pistions and fry the turbo. having a boost gauge can give you an idea of when a wastegate fails. (mine failed, boost spiked my 30psi gauge. found it had gone all the way to 40psi) plus it's kinda nice to be able to see how much boost you're making when towing.
tell him to ditch the stock exhaust as quick as possible. (or at least get a DPF delete kit) he'll see a pretty good improvement in fuel economy once that big can is taken out.

I'm trying to figure out who installed the gages. I just called Western Hauler and they said they don't do boost or EGT gages in the factory console so it was probably done at the dealership.
Or the guy did it custom on his own. The EGT guage probably just needs a tap into the exhaust to check Temp and the Boost guages are easy to hook up as well. Could probably be done in the driveway in a day. Nice lookin' truck there minus the wing. But you know they say Function over Form

Nice truck, just couldn't justify paying that much for it. Mostly the new price.

I hear you on that. Its alot of $$ for a truck. My brother was telling me how it was amazing he found this one because usually its really rare to find used GM trucks of this caliber used with such low mileage.
Fords and Dodges can be found all day used, but GMC and Chevrolets are a little harder to find. You will almost have to buy new if you need a truck like this in any type of expedient manner.
