I know back in the day it was easy to have someone re-program the card with the football guy on it to get your satellite "fixed". But with the V4 and V5 cards out (awhile), has anyone been able to re-script those? Its not illegal to buy all the stuff,but illegal to use it.. Go figure.
Anyways, any satellite gooroo's around to shed some light on this?

I had a few friends that got al the DirecTV channels probably 5 years ago but now they all say the y changed it. When the sattleite guy comes to the house I always ask him about it. They say it's possible but not nearly as common, also they said if you do have hacked receiver than DO NOT hook up the phone line in the back.

I wouldn't touch that w/a 100 foot poll.... DTV has been cracking down from my understanding... they're going after people they find just buying the hardware to code the cards... wether they intend to use them for stealing DTV or not (not sure about the new cards, but the old writers could be used for more than just DTV card cding)

You just buy the DTV (satellite, reciever, etc) stuff from ebay. (around 80 bucks last time i checked) That way they CANT come out and check on THEIR system. Just plug the little scripter into your PC (with some software) and their you go. I just dont hear anymore if they have the new cards "hacked" (whichever DTV is using nowa days) figured out yet..
And of coarse, dont plug into wall..

There is no way they could find ya.. Have the stuff sent to a buddy that just has cable.. He say "I HAVE CABLE MAN"
They cant detect the air waves your stealing either. Just zap your card, and re-program it. I just payed a buddy back then to do it. Im sure its not that simple now a days though.

The P4 cards that they use these days have not been cracked yet, and many are guessing they wont. The new cards seem to like to commit suicide when you write them, which isnt too good. DTV has underwent HUGE changes to their programming, the way it was back in the old days is not how it is today.
Dish Network is nowhere near as secure... might I suggest you look there...
dtv was using an outside company to write their security codes back in the day. now, they write their own and handle all security in house. the new cards are an impossibility. they are talking about modding the receivers though, if anything happens, it will be a hardware mod and not a software thing like back in the day.
