Default Anybody ever seen an LSx Supra?

Anybody ever done this? I'd love to have a Supra but it seems like it would be cheaper to modify an LS engine over a 2JZ and make more power, if not the same. Supras are a little too pricey I think, but a cheap high mileage NA would be perfect for a swap. Does anyone make a custom k-member for this?

pretty sure no one does. Supras are too expensive anyway, even the N/A's.

I like where your head's at tho.

If the Skyline LS1 didn't piss off the Fan boys, a Supra LS1 would deff. do the trick.

Why would you do it though? With a thicker head gasket, the stock NA bottom end has been proven to be just as strong as the GTE bottom end. In fact, the NA crank and rods are the exact some parts as the turbo model has. The pistons are the same material except for the dish being less. The stock bottom end has gone well into the 9s as well. I can't think of an LS1 that has done that in the chassis it came in without a huge amount of weight reduction. Remember, the 9 second NA 2jz was in an sc300 Lexus and did so with the stock IRS as well..

Been a dream of mine, although I was thining of a 93-97 NA Supra. I LOVE the body style on those. I don't think a crossmember is gonna be available, as this is not a very common swap. Good luck if you do go this route, wish I had the money/time for it.

i understand that he was talking about newer supras. Yeah, they're pretty, yeah, they're fast...but they're expensive little bastards (i blame fast and the furious..)

I still think the late 80's one's are awesome. I have a thing for pop up lights

this is an '89 model, and its under $2,000. skip to 4 years later, you're paying almost $30grand...

just my two cents

Why would anyone do it? The skyline swap, was done just becuase. Not becuase the ls1 is superior. The supra itself is expensive, but not modding it. I dont understand why people think its expensive to mod these cars. With 12k or less, you can have a monster(7-800hp).

Greddy T88--$4000
clutch--$2000(could be cheaper)
fuel--$2000
guages---$800
labor--1500

I know some of you are gonna say, well you can spray an ls1. Hell you can do the same with the supra. But mod for mod, it is easier to make power. Even if you wanted to make 400-450rwhp, all you need is a dp, intercooler, exhaust, boost controller. The dp alone, can give you 50-60hp.

To me its a stupid swap!

Actually its more like:

Greddy T88 - 4 grand and laggy as fuck
Greddy 4 row - $1800
Titan Intake - $1400
AEM EMS - $2300
HKS DLI - $400
clutch - $1000
fuel - $2200
guages - $800

and this still a very very basic rundown of what you need.

But I do agree that its a stupid swap, It might make sense swapping it into an MKIII but then why, when you could just as easily swap in a 2JZ/R154 setup.

The T88 might be laggy, but thats if you go with 34h setup. The 33d is an ok turbo. But there are other kits on the market, that are similarly priced that would outperform the T88. The intake manifold isnt necessary for 700hp. And the fuel and intercooler, could be had for alot cheaper, if we were to look in the for sale adds on the supraforums.

TH88 is a very old setup and not alot of people are using it anymore...

GT series or custom turbos are being used now, that flow better etc

Supraforums.com look them up

Why would that piss them off? Your using a supra chassis. If anything, GM fanboys should be upset!

T88 would be great but wouldn't you get more torque down low with a 5.7 over a 3.0? seems like supras suffer from that split second of boost lag whereas, say, an LS based motor will make torque instantly, just in time for turbo spool.

i dunno, i'm just assuming. i would still rather have a 5.7 liter with a turbo over a 3.0 liter turbo. but i like the supra body a lot more over anything. the curves on that car are timeless.

twin 88mm sized turbos on an LSx application?

DUH, maybe because it's (the 2JZGTE) the NUMERO UNO, ultimate import (and TOY) worshipping/domestic hating fanboy's engine?? (i.e.; it's the Nippon "heart" of their beloved "supacar")
In any case it would not "upset" me (yup, you're right, I'm a proud "domestic fanboy" ). I would just laugh at those who asked why.
