http://www.viperalley.com/forum/trac...ml#post1037812

I know they we might not be semi-exotic like those others, but shouldn't somebody represent chevy? I thought this was one of the biggest automobile enthusiast communities out there???

Uh yeah, I highly doubt it. I haven't seen an F body do 230 MPH in the standing mile, run low 8's on pump gas, or outhandle something like a Gallardo.

I'd totally be up for going. I'd probably punch someone though (and I have a crowbar in my trunk).

Can't go 230 MPH with flat tires, can ya?

So what? How many Supras run low 8s on pump gas? Yet they were included.

Anyway, I don't think they want any real competition in the 1/4 mile drag race category. If so, they would have invited Turbobuick.com or any number of Ford forums with plenty of sub-8 second mustangs.

If you read what they posted, there was more to it than 1/4 mile.

I've seen Vipers run low 8's on pump gas.

I wasn't saying there couldn't be any LS1 competition, rather that the person I quoted who said that "They'd get their shit wrecked" was likely very wrong.

That was seriously the gayest post ever. So for basically no reason (other than probably getting your ass handed to you) you're gonna hit someone and beat them with a crowbar? Enjoy jail retard....

Really? You've seen a street driven (not all out drag car) LS1 Fbody go 230MPH in the standing mile?

You've seen an LS1 go low 8's on pump gas?

I know they had multiple categories, but I'm just saying that it's obvious they don't want to focus much on 1/4 mile drag racing, because none of those cars are as well suited to that sort of competition as an F-body, Mustang, or even Grand National.

And again, I doubt there is a Supra anywhere in the world that runs low 8s on pump gas, unless it's no longer a turbo engined car (or it's been stripped down to 1500lbs).

I think its pretty obvious that the car that would represent us would be a c6 z06. Fbodys are great drag cars, but it would look pretty silly next to a exotic sports cars. The C6 Z on the other hand looks like it belongs.

And BTW, there aren't any cars out there that are going 8s in the 1/4 mile, and still being able to hang with gallerdos in the twisties. And what street driven car have you seen go 230s in the standing mile??? The fordGT only went 203 something. And BTW, plenty of ls1 N2O cars have gone 8s (maybe not low 8s, but 8s) on pump gas.

I highly boubt that there are any Vipers out there than can go 8's and still do good on road courses. They would probibly end up crashing.

I bet if we brought a C6 Z06 over to there that was set up for the road course it could do better than most if not all cars.

The Lingenfelter Vette did 226 in the standing mile. Close to 230, and I bet you could still make it faster.
EDIT: Just learned that it was on street tires and full weight.

The Vipers MIGHT win in the 1/4 only if its pump gas, because I think they got one that ran 7.99? But where does it say anything about it having to run on pump gas? Might have missed it, but I didnt see it.

Look up SVS in Illinois, their TT Viper went 231 in the standing mile on E85.

E85 does not = pump gas, IMO. Sure, you can buy it a a few select stations from the pump, but the same can be said for 100 octane gasoline as well.

I think most people agree that pump gas = 87-93 octane.
