I'd take the EVO too. This is the performance era folks. LSx still pwns em all. Why drool over a little cobalt. It'll take some heavy mods to get much faster.

Well if you dont know how to take care of a car yes. Ive owned three DSMs only broke down once in the four years Ive owned them. And it was on purpose because I had a new motor so why not destroy the old one, it held for three pulls at 34 psi so i think thats really good for a stock internal motor.

Excellent write-up!

I was looking at getting something for regular street use that would get good gas mileage. Since we specialize in GM vehicles, I looked at what was available. I ended up getting an '06 Cobalt SS. Sticker was 25,600 but I got it for 11,000 with 39,000 miles on it.
Car&Driver and all the other mags have been raving about the handling of these Cobalt SS's for the last three years, and man, does it handle!
We ran the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap yesterday in Tenn/North Carolina with the car, 11 miles and 318 curves! What a blast, if you haven't heard about this, check out this video.

And our average gas mileage down to Fort Jackson to see our son graduate from basic training was 32.5 mpg, this includes running Deals Gap. Bob

What do they run in the 1/4 stock & what is stock boost?

Turn the boost up on anything & go zoom zoom...but for how long?

Yup and the interior is pretty cheap....

But 100k warranty, 30 MPG highway, and the best front wheel drive handling car ever....not a bad deal IMO.

I just wish they could have made it RWD and called it something else.

Yea well its worth it to me to have a better interior handiling and more potental out of the stock engine. What do you mean by worse gas milage im sure its not that big of a diffrence if any. The new evo 10 will gain 60+ awhp with minor bolt ons (intake, exhust, IC pipes). There is a 100k 3 year warrenty also. One thing that I will never own is a front wheel drive car.

Thumbs up

Wow, and that was on pure street tires too I think, that certainly IS impressive as hell, especially in those weather conditions/density altitude.
I like the new Cobalt SS turbo (and Solstice and Sky turbos as well).

Default Chevrolet Rhodium SS

If it was just rear-wheel drive, it would be almost perfect!

I think the magazines have been getting times in the very low 14s (14.1ish).

ironing board spoiler is an option now, no longer standard. I think you can also even get the smaller one now

$11K for a used one is pretty good, Evo's are more like $18-20K used. For a DD it would be a fun car, just have to ditch that lame big trunk spoiler.

they come with the smaller one you get on the sport stock, and the high rise is an option. Honestly I think they look better with the high rise, they look kind of weird with the smaller one.

AGREED!

The 'high rise' one would not look quite as stupid/ricey IF the car were RWD/AWD!!
